3rd Trimester

Do you groom your lady bits before an exam?

I have my GBS test on Tuesday. I usually shave everything, but I haven't in about a week. I have stubble now, but it's the nice stubble where it doesn't itch and it doesn't hurt. Thinking about shaving it tomorrow night is exhausting me tonight. Haha!! So do you groom before or have you given up on caring?

LOL! Well, mine are all women. I don't get the luxury! DARN!

  • Embarrassed  I gave up on caring.  I figure if I don't keep it groomed for DH then I shouldn't groom it for the dr, lol.  I do a little maintenance now and then, but very little.

Is it sad that I'm convinced I'm just going to get one massive gift card and that I'm more excited for the cake?

I'll totally come on an AW what I got afterwards. I think it's at 3 or 3:30 eastern time tomorrow afternoon.

Ahh! I cannot shave everyday. I would get massive razor burn. I can't do it more than twice a week.

I can't see myself not caring yet. I do go in blind now though. Haha!!!

  • Nope, my DH trims me when I get a bit too long but I don't shave lady bits at all any more.

hahaha... can't wait to hear! Big Smile

  • Since I can't see down there anymore, DH has taken over the duties.  (just trimming.

Now if I could just get him to piant my toes, we'd be in business!

March 21, I find out how far along we are. :)
  • When I did my GBS test the nurse just handed me the swab and had me do it in the bathroom! I do always make sure I am "clean" before every appointment though in case they do an internal (never even been offered Sad) or say, "you are going to have your baby today!"
  • i usually always keep very well groomed... not so much now though. i just cant see, and the last time i cut myself pretty badly. so i hav an appt tues. im planning to fix up, but nothing like i would normally do!!!
  • You know, all joking aside, I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately.  I know if I don't get it done, they're going to have to shave part of it when I have my c-section.  I think I'd rather go in blind and do it myself, knowing it was done right and not "patchy" by some jackass with an electric razor.  Thoughts?
  • Just did that circus act tonight  Big Smile  Whew, talk about work!  Had to break out the mirror since there is no way you can see under that big ole belly.  Its funny and embarrasing all in the same instant.

I'd take care of it yourself. Especially since you're probably going to not want anything to do with shaving for awhile afterwards. If I have to have a c-section I can totally see myself busting out the scissors to trim it after a month or so of healing and not wanting anything to do with shaving anything near the incision.

I'm getting paranoid about always being groomed and having my legs shaved, just in case I go into labor soon. The last thing I want is hairy legs when I'm in labor. I say that now. I probably won't care. But I'm still going to say it!

When I had my c-section they didn't shave me at all.... however they weren't exactly careful with the crazy glue tape they use to keep the incision closed and I had that all up in my pubes for a good week or so.

  • Nope, not paranoid. I took a trip to L and D last night for some timeable contractions (of course, nothing happened, I'm back home), and the only thing I could think of was F--, I needed to stay on top of shaving my legs. I was rocking out the hospital gown, let me tell you. YUCK. Legs got shaved first thing today to prevent another such situation.

This! I would be nice if he would help with the toes.. I only have had him trim once and unless it grows super quick I wont worry about it again.

  • Lurking from first-tri.  I'm not worried about being "groomed" for a quick 15 second exam.  Also I am a L&D nurse & I have to say that seeing a patient with completely bald or nearly bald business is much more gross than one with a more natural look.  Also shaving with a razor before a c-section can be a bad thing because it causes microscopic cuts that can increase infection post-op.  Thats why hospitals use clippers to trim the hair instead.
  • Always!  This time around I have yet to have any exams.  I did my own GBS swab at the MW.  Never did that before.  It was weird but also less invasive.
  • Now that I can't see it anymore, I am to skittish to get in there with a  sharp object. DH doesn't care so I'm not concerned about whether the doctors or nurses do.

I might go for a waxing before Dday though. Just to clean things up for when I can see it again.

  • Ha ha. My OB is a woman, so I guess less pressure. I keep groomed semi-regularly, and however it is on appt day is however it is! But its usually not too bad, maybe some stubble,  perhaps a little more, but never more than 2 weeks worth.

I think I would be switching practices!!  I have 4 older than my dad docs and I am just fine with that!!

  • To be perfectly honest, I started just keeping it neatly trimmed weeks ago. I am carrying so high that bending over is just ridiculous, and it was really difficult even with using a mirror. Also, there is no way DH is being allowed near there with anything sharp. I do a trim right before every exam, though, just for my own peace of mind.
  • I don't shave for my OB, if my husband has to deal with it then anyone else can lol...I love how you call it Lady Bits made me LOL
  • I tried last night - but realized after I got out of the tub and found a mirror that I was a little off and uneven.
  • If I'm having an internal, yes I do.

But I *try* to keep groomed down there anyway.
