Anyone feel sick after H1N1 shot?

I got mine last Wednesday and started with a runny nose on Friday, which I figured was the shot. Since Friday, I have had a hard time sleeping, and waking up so congested with a huge headache. Everything is clear, and i blow my nose so much that it is sometimes blood twinged!

My joints are sore too, but I think that is end of pregnancy swelling setting in, it is worse than before, but that started before the shot.

Just wondering if anyone else felt under the weather after their swine flu shot?

It's most likely a coincidence that you got a mild cold. I was a little achy the day after and my arm is still a little sore and itchy. Otherwise, fine and relieved to have it start working.

I've never gotten sick after any vaccines. It takes a couple of weeks before vaccines are fully effective, so it's possible to get sick even after getting the vaccine. I would call your doc to make sure you just have a cold and not swine flu. If you have swine flu, you need to take Tamiflu within 48 hours for it to be most effective.

I actually was sick like that before I got the shot (got mine 10/29)... once I got the shot, that cleared up in a day or two. I still get congested at night but I have my entire pregnancy. No more blood when I blow my nose though. And no more headaches. As for the sore joints, that's probably just because you are further along that you were before you got the shot. I'm alwyas aching so that's normal for me. I had no side effects from it... and my arm was only sore for about an hour or two after the shot.

Did you get the inactive virus one?

Oh, I should also add that as of Tuesday, I was given Tamiflu as a preventative measure because the man who sits next to me at work was diagnosed with the h1n1 the day after I received my vaccine. It takes 2 weeks to kick in. So my vaccine will not be fully effective until this Thursday (my last day on Tamiflu).

Not me. It may just be a bad coincidence that you got a cold or a mild case of the seasonal flu after you got the shot (but unrelated to the shot).

Yes! The same exact thing happened to me! I got the shot on a Friday and then on Saturday I was feeling stuffed up and congested. I was also achy and my throat hurt a bit. It came and went all this past week, but I am still congested a bit. I didn't think it could necessarily be a side effect of the shot, but maybe it was.

Nope. I feel pregnant. My back hurts and am extremely tired. But none of that is from the vaccine.

I had a headache for a few days but I have had bad headaches all along so I'm pretty sure it was just coincidental.

I actually felt better after the H1N1 shot than I did the regular flu shot. It may just be a coincidence.

The vaccines weaken your immune system for a short time, so if you were introduced to a cold around the time that you got the shot, you might have caught it. Also, congestion is really common at the end of pregnancy. I have noticed that, big time. Your body "lubes up" with mucus everywhere. Usually clear mucus means allergies/natural, and not a virus or cold.

I had mine Friday morning and I'm good, the shot isn't even too sore. My nose is all stuffed up, but that's my allergies. We started cleaning house and moving furniture this weekend. My house is very dusty. I think I need to hire a housekeeper.

2 days after mine I woke up and felt HORRIBLE! Achey, tired, stuffed up, I was sure I was getting sick, but it went away about 4 hours later. I've been fine since.

I was a little light-headed for a few hours afterwards, but I just rested for a while and was fine. I also have a bump and a bruise at the injection site. I bruise really easily!

I did not have any reactions to the shot. I know that I have been blowing my nose a lot lately, but that is not unusual for me this time of year regardless of whether or not I'm pregnant.

My hubby felt terrible for a couple of days after his - sore joints, achy muscles, mild fever - the whole nine yards.

I got mine last Friday and other than a slightly sore arm and feeling extra tired that day, I felt fine.

My seasonal flu vaccine knocked me for a loop though!

The nurse told me it was normal to feel like you have to flu after the shot, it's your immune system producing antibodies against it.

Thank you ladies! I had an appointment today and they think it is just coincidence that I have a little cold. My weight was up another 5 lbs, so the soreness is not imaginary. BP was good, but still drew blood to check for Pre- E. (I have been considered high risk for awhile now so they are extra careful, plus had Pre-E with 1st PG.)
