When do you decorate for the holidays?

The Christmas tree PIP has me wondering when everyone normally puts up their decorations. We make a day of it the day after Thanksgiving. DH doesn't like putting any of the x-mas stuff up before then.

Dh and I like to put up the Christmas stuff together. We put on Christmas music and drink egg nog. We try to do it when we have a night off together. Usually we set a day during the first week of December.

After Thanksgiving I start putting out the decorations and trees. I do everything by myself since I am very anal about the trees and how they look. I do allow DH to decorate the small 3ft tree, but when he is not around I replace the location of some of the ornaments. I am so bad, but he really doesn't mind.

Usually the day after Thanksgiving. Last year we did start the week before--letting dd decorate her own little pink Christmas tree.

I'm thinking we'll start earlier this year. I'm wanting to put up my tree soon---but we really need a new one. I guess it depends if we decide to make our tree work for another year or buy a new one.....

Okay, this would be me too if he helped. He mowed the lawn instead but helped bring the stuff up from the basement!

His mom used to move the ornaments when he was young so he doesn't partake too much in the decorating bit, plus I have my own vibe that I want to show off I guess.

I decorate after Thanksgiving. I do most of it on my own and sometimes let DH put stuff on the tree, haha. I'm pretty particular, I admit it. I have some new ideas up my sleeve this year and I'm excited!

This is why I have to do more than one tree. I get these ideas with colors and how I want the overall feel of the tree to look, but I also love my olds ones too. DH thinks I am crazy, but I blame my mom. She had a tree in almost every room of the house with a different theme when I was growing up. I seem to collect more and more stuff. I am so turing into my mother.

DH loves to decorate for XMas. We'll take all the decorations out of the basement the weekend after Thanksgiving. This is the 1st year in the house when he'll get to put lights up outside. Now we have a ladder, so he thinks the limits are endless. ER....here we come!

Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year we are going to Kansas City right after T-day for the big KU vs. Mizzou football game (go KU). So, we'll probably do it during the week right after Thanksgiving.

i try to put it off as long as possible. DH gets a tree a different time every year and we just decorate then. I think last year he decorated it all himself tho. Call me Scrooge! Actually my favorite xmas decoration is my singing Grinch doll. Hate most xmas music too. DH loves it and puts it on just to annoy me.

DH has a rolling work schedule, so we usually try and work it out for as soon as possible after Thanksgiving...

We do more than one tree too. The main tree in the living room is the fancy silver and cranberry tree but I love my colored light tree with the old family ornaments in the family room.

I put up the tree on Thanksgiving during the parade. It gets decorated on Fri and Sat, along with the rest of the house.

Since we're actually traveling this Thanksgiving, I'll be doing everything the day we get home. I'm hosting a cookie swap the weekend after Thanksgiving, and the house needs to be done by then.

Ideally I like to decorate right after Thanksgiving BUT

I decorated today. We have two holiday related businesses, this is the last weekend DH will not be working 7 days a week & starting a week from tomorrow I will be working in the store too. Today we had four guys here helping pull out all the decorations, put the lights up on the house (not turning them on yet), etc.

The tree is in place but not decorated, I did not hang stockings, or put out all the holiday towels , soap dispensers... etc.

So today it is Christmas here

DH and I both just love decorating for Christmas. We have a tradition to go cut down our tree at a tree farm in the forrest right after Thanksgiving.

My birthday is Dec 5th, and we've always gone to get a tree that night. We decorate everything the following weekend (if it falls on a weeknight).

Last year was our first holiday season in our new home so DH was extra excited. He put up the Christmas decorations on Thanksgiving while I made dinner. This year he will be decorating the day after Thanksgiving.
