This thread is for any
and all Mamas on bedrest, in any form. We are stuck home, in bed or on
our couches, and could use the support of each other to make it through
this time in order to get to a healthy baby! We all know how hard
bedrest is and we wish everyone a healthy pregnancy!!!! Anyone is
welcome to join, and anyone can start this daily thread. Just copy and
paste this paragraph and info lines below if you get here and the
thread has yet to start for that day!
Name: Carlyn
Due Date: 12/2/09
When were you placed on BR: 10/13/09, 33 weeks
Type of BR: Modified
Why: Rising BP's and history of pre-e and HELLP Syndrome with DS1
Question of the Day: Let's move away from babies and pregnancy today and think back to when we were just ourselves taking care of ourselves (seems like forever ago, right?) What one thing did you do for yourself that you enjoyed the most?I like to drive around in my car, especially on early spring nights when the weather was just getting nice. Of course, like any other girl, I enjoyed the occasional "spa" day here and there. I've never really been a girly girl, and I'm way too practical to want to pay for that kind of stuff constantly. My 29th birthday is a week from today, however, and I'm hoping DH will spring for some nice caramel highlights in my brown hair to cover up the blond stuff I went with for the summer. A pedicure (so Eli can see pretty feet when he comes out) would be nice, too, but I don't want to press my luck. Updates?None since yesterday. My Braxton Hicks are rocking today and literally taking my breath away. I go for an ultrasound on Tuesday to check and see how big Elijah is. He was already over 7 pounds at 33 weeks, 6 days (the 99.5 percentile!!!!), so I'm predicting about 9 pounds right now. My MFM figures he'll be a 10 1/2-11 pounder, and no, I don't have GD! I'm really starting to get uncomfortable. Since he dropped, I have so much pressure on my pelvic bones and it seriously feels like someone is ripping them apart. Today I have spasms you know where, too....never had that before, so weird! I figure today I'm just going to take it easy and watch some Michigan State football. Let's see if they can end their 2 game losing streak. We'll also be watching Purdue at Michigan (DH went to Purdue).Hope everyone has a great Saturday!
Re: Bed Rest Mamas Saturday Check In
Name: Lauren
Due Date: 12/24/09
When were you placed on BR: 11/2 - 32.5w
Type of BR: Modified
Why: PTL
Question of the Day: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. There would be days when DH and I would lay around (or sometimes just me) and watch movies all day. Not quite as possible now that DS is here.
Screen name: BabyBebe1, real name: Cindy
Due Date: 12/5
When placed on BR: 10/15
Type: Home bed rest - allowed to shower but told to lay down most of the day. As of today though (yay for 36 weeks) I can do a little bit more.
Why: Pre-term labor, also have gestational hypertension, and our baby has a urethral valve obstruction which created dual kidney and bladder dilation so my amniotic fluid levels are checked weekly via ultrasound.
Question of the Day: I used to get a mani/pedi every other Friday and for some reason that was really therapeutic. My husband saw my nail lady the other day and she has apparently been very concerned that I've been missing...ha. I also love to cook. For me, being alone in the kitchen with my recipe, ingredients, and a glass of wine, is just so relaxing. I love when family and friends sit down to enjoy the product too!
Updates: Day 2 off the nifedipine for me and no labor signs really. Some contractions but nothing increasing or too painful. I find it really funny, since everyone was so sure I would go right away without the pills. My husband and I are getting a couples massage today (I was told by my doc I could come off strict bed rest at 36 weeks and do a few low intensity things) and I am soooo looking forward to it. So baby is on my strict orders that today is not the day to make an appearance! Again though, I truly feel like I am going to defy the odds and make it at least another week.
Happy Saturday ladies!!
Name: Krissy
Due Date: 12/29/09 but being induced on December 8th
When were you placed on BR: At 28 weeks, I spent week 27 in the hospital
Type of BR: restricted
Why: PreE - Rising BP's and protein in my urine
QOTD: I used to like just not getting dressed and hanging inside all day, vegging on the sofa and watching trashy TV, that is until I HAD to do it.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Let's move away from babies and pregnancy today and think back to when we were just ourselves taking care of ourselves (seems like forever ago, right?) What one thing did you do for yourself that you enjoyed the most?
Well, it has been a long time since no kids, and I was really young when i had my son, i was 16, so i was really doing typical teenager things before i had my son. But the one thing that i really did enjoy doing, and now that i am older, 26, i really dont care for too much anymore, but was sitting down and playing old games, like on the reg. nintendo all day without a care in the world. I used to sit down all day and play zelda...Oh to be young..LOL
Updates?
Well, I am new to the board, and wrote in an earlier commentary about what is going on with me, but really things are the same, couch, internet and the telly...LOL
God bless everyone, and please be safe and take care!!
