But they hurt like a ***, but only after they broke my water. I wasn't feeling anything until that point, then bam, they were one on top of each other.

I went for 6 hours without an epi on pitocin - I caved when I got the labor shakes really bad - but I don't know if they hurt worse then regular contrax bc I only had labor this way!
They were for me, I was already contracting before they put me on it to speed things up. I guess I don't really know the difference though, either way it is painful.

I labored for 8 hours before they broke my water and I didn't feel anything then. I think the contractions didn't get bad for me until about 12 hours. I have nothing to compare it to though.
My one of my sisters had her first natural and said it wasn't too horrible. Her second she was induced and got the epidural.
Don't know if they hurt worse, but they hurt really bad. Manageable though until the end when I thought I was going to die but that was only because my cervix had collapsed in on itself and the MW had to go up inside with her freakin forearm and move it out of the way.
I was already contracting and was 3 cm when I got to the hospital for the induction though, and I didn't know.
I wasn't induced with it I was given it to speed things up. Honestly it didn't help me and I don't think they hurt that bad. It just made them come quicker and I had less time to prepare my self for the next one. To me with the pitocin the contractions felt like tighter squeezes than without it.

I went about 8 hours without pitocin, but they broke my water around hour 6 and they got way more intense after that. Super painful and super close together.

I only made it to 5cm (after 14 hours, started at 3cm) and it was horrible, absolutely horrible.. But like others said, I don't have anything to compare it to!
I remember telling the nurses when they would ask what number on a scale of 1-10... I kept saying, "I don't know?! I don't want to say 8, b/c what if this is nothing!?"
I was given pitocin when I had my first baby--16.5 years ago, and the pain seemed excruciating. Not sure if that was because I was 19 years old, was given NO pain meds, or if it was really the pitocin. It was extrememly painful though.
With Addyson (my 4.5 month old), I went into labor the day before my scheduled c-section, my water broke and my contractions were so hard and on top of one another that they actually had to give me something to slow down my labor so they could scramble and get an OR ready. While the contractions were painful, they didn't seem to hurt as much as when I had my 16 year old with pitocin. Again, not sure if it was pitocin, or other circumstances.
Hmmm, I guess I wasn't one bit of help here. Sorry! I just like to talk about having babies. :-)
My water broke at 4:30 am, 1st internal was around 7AM and it was pretty much the worst pain, other than contractions, don't know if my OB has giant hands. I had painful contractions every five minutes from 7AM until delivery at 9:16PM about 10 minutes after my water broke. They gave me some shots for DS lung maturity, some other stuff and morphine around 12:00. Epi was started around 3PM, lasted until about 5:30ish, once they started pitocin I was SCREAMING in pain and begging for more pain meds. Dr. said either I push or they would give me a c-section, I opted to push. 2nd internal was worse than the first. I think I threw up about4 or 5X. I had nothing to drink from the time I went in until ice chips magically appeared around 3:00.

Let's try this again...

Thanks for the replies ladies. As Katie said I don't have anything to compare them to I was just curious how your experience was with it.
