Julia is on our "final 4" list.
I love the name, in English.
DH is from Spain and would end up calling her "hoo-lia," which he says is a beautiful name in Spanish. (His name is Julio, btw)
But I hate how it sounds. I don't mind Julio, but for some reason Julia just grates on my nerves. It would be unreasonable for me to expect DH and his family to use the English pronunciation, so I'm considering cutting it from the list.
Do you think it really sounds as awful as I think it does, or am I overreacting?
If you like Julia, do you still like "hoo-lia?"
Re: Julia
I would probably cut it. Mainly because I suck at narrowing names down so if even a tiny problem presents itself, the name is usually nixed.
And personally, I don't really like "hoo-lia". I dig "hoo-lio" but "hoo-lia" just sounds funny to me.

This.
I went to college with a girl named Julia. We called her "hoolia julia".
I'd cut it if I were you.

I'm with you, Julio is cool with the Spanish J, Julia: not so much. I would cut it off the list, esp. since you have 3 other names you like in the running.
(And I do so love Julia with the English J..)
