I got a handy new Apple Peeler/Slicer/Corer! I peeled, sliced and cored a bushel of apples in like 10 minutes! What have I don't without this thing all my life?!
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little! But it's still awesome!

I searched all over for one of those yesterday. Where did you get it?

I'm doing all this peeling because I learned that you can FREEZE sliced apples. So I'll be able to have my favorite orchard apples all the time! You can pop them right from the freezer into a pie or crisp. I can't believe I'm just learning this.
ANYwho.
Mlwinkle - I got mine from kingarthurflour.com (a baking company) but my friend has one from pampered chef! Go get one, like now. It's amazing.

I bought one at bed bath and beyond last week for 20 bucks! it is kind of a pain because the suction cup thing on the bottom doesn't work, but dh rigged it up for me with a vice and i love it.

I know right?!
Just put them in some lemon water, or salt water, while your peeling them so they don't turn. Then cut them how you want, drain the water, throw them in a freezer bag, and TADA. You can just 'break off' what you need of your frozen apples for a pie or whatever. This has changed my life.
And I can't believe I'm this excited about apples.
awesome! I want one of those and your post may have just persuaded me to get one!!

If you like the apple corer you should try the Gizmo battery powered shredder. I could totally just use my food processer, but the Gizmo is fun.
