I don't know if you've been told this, but my doctor had advised me not to drink anything that is too cold, or too hot. Water at room temp isn't very yummy, though it supposedly helps with an upset stomach, but maybe add a little lemon like PP said, or even a dash of the crystal light packets for water bottles.
if you are on the thin side don't worry about all the water!
omg THANK you for posting this. i didn't know that. very helpful for me, bc i'm definitely on the slender side (in fact, my RE thinks that's why i had fertility issues).

i think i'll stop drinking water soon
it is MUCH EASIER for the u/s tech to find the baby during an early ultrasound if mother is thin. i honestly drank 8 oz. and the tech found my little one in about 2 seconds. i have had many techs (now that i am on 2nd pregnancy) tell me that i dont need to follow the water rule since i am thin also.
I really think any liquid will be fine. Can you stomach anything else?
For pp, the reason you drink the liquid is so the bladder will expand and they can get a better view externally. Your dr. probably told you not to drink liquid because they always do a vaginal u/s. You do not have to have a full bladder for that. For most women, they try the external and end up doing the vaginal because they cant see the baby clearly because it is still so small.
Re: drinking water for U/S + nausea
Pace yourself! Hope your hard work isn't wasted! Will it help to put a lemon slice in there?
I wonder why some people on here have to have a full bladder, but they specifically tell me to NOT have a full bladder. Anyone know why that is?

GL!
I couldn't suck down 32 ounces of water. I did probably 24 and that was good enough for me.
Can you add some lemon to it or a flavor packet to make it easier? Don't take big gulps of it. Try to drink it over a period of time.
