I wish I had a separate bank account

that I could use the $$ to buy clothes, shoes, etc and not have to explain any of my spending to DH.  I REALLY have an urge to go shopping today.  I think that's the only thing I miss about my single days.  Not having to worry about what I spent my money on.

    Can you talk to him about setting up something like that? DH and I have that set up for that very reason. He came home with a dreamcast (WTF?) the other day and said not one word...his account, his choice. Then he had to keep it zipped when I was rocking my francy new shoes. The accounts are small, but worth it!

    That's why I'm in charge of the bills, Wink.  Seriously though, I am fighting a shopping urge myself.

    I agree, any chance you can set up a small account? Maybe set up one for each of you and put XXX amount in it each month. DH and I have 1 separate CC each so we can make purchases that need to be surprises.

      OMG, my DH is obsessed with checking our bank account.  Not that he doesn't trust me, he's just paranoid of identity theft, people hacking into accounts, etc.

    There is no way I could live without having my own account. We would probably have already killed each other by now, lol.

    I hear ya! THIS is why we have seperate accounts for "fun" stuff. I got tired of the phone calls every.single.time. I made a purchase. Dork.

    I don't think anyone should have to explain purchases to SO. I also think hiding purchases from your H is wrong (not saying u do). How would you feel if the roles were reversed... just sayin...

    My H is the one with the spending issue and I get so furious with him sometimes.

    We have a cash stash of DH's tip money that neither of us really keeps close track of.  I grab a couple hundred out of the top when the need to shop becomes overwhelming.  (Maybe once every couple of months.)  I used to use only cc so I could get rewards, but DH prefers I use cash, so I do.  Not worth fussing over.

      We're on a strict budget and we limit what we spend.  And I don't hide purchases.  What do you mean how would I feel if the roles were reversed?  I was just wishing for a bank account with my own money that I could spend guilt-free.  There's nothing wrong with a little wishful thinking.
