CD recommendations for newborns

Hopefully this isn't a super repeated post...I did a search and couldn't find much on it.

I've looked on lots of the blogs for recommendations and they are all over the place.

What is your favorite diaper for newborns?

I'm looking at BG AIO's, Flips or GroBaby's for when a little older as that is about all hubby and daycare can handle. But what about for when they are teeny tiny?

Thinking about Jillian's Diapers newborn trial, buying Kissaluv's 0's and thirsties covers used or renting them new from Nell's Natural baby.

Re: CD recommendations for newborns

  • We used prefolds exclusively for the first four weeks, and I really liked them.  Now we have added some fitteds, sized Fuzzi Bunz and BG 3.0s, but the pfs are still my go-to diaper.

  • DS is 4.5mos old - NB diapers were Kissuluvs size 0 with xs Thirsties covers.  We absolutely loved them!  Now we use Kissuluvs size 1 with sm. Thirsties covers and we're still loving the system!  We also have a few BG AIO OS and we like them, too.
  • Hands down, Kissaluv size 0. We used NB bummis covers (fit small) and Thirsties (fit big). I used the rental from Nell's. Worked great and you can't beat the price.

  • We used pre-folds and have stuck with them. We used the Pro-wrap with the umbilical cord indent and they worked great. We used those covers until he weighed a little over 10 lbs. Now we are using Blueberry covers, they are adjustable from 10 lbs. to 40 or something so they should last a long time. I would try the Jillian's newborn trial so you can try a bunch of covers, I think the pro-wrap is one of them.

  • I tried both the kissaluvs and prefolds for my newborn and he HATED them both with a passion because he doesn't like pee to touch his skin.  We found that happy heiny's size small pocket diapers (old style) that we picked up from jillian's at a sidewalk sale ($5!!) on a fluke worked awesome for us.  My son was 9lb6oz at birth but I still think they would have fit a smaller baby.  I thought the prefolds we too bulky even for his size at birth.
