Childcare!

Am I the only one who doesn't have childcare lined up yet?! I was counting on my neighbor which would've worked out perfectly and she just sent me an EMAIL (yea, an email!) last weekend backing out. I'm in a full-blown panic. I have to come back to work in February and I can't relax until I've got something lined up!

Re: Childcare!

  • Take a deep breath... was there anything else you were considering besides your neighbor when you initially thought about it?

  • Granted, I have more time then you, but I have nothing lined up, I haven't even thought about it.  Which I know is bad.  To be honest, I think that I keep putting it off hoping that something will magically happen and I won't have to come back to work.  Like DH will get a promotion or something.  I need to get back to reality though.  I just have no clue where to start looking, and everytime I've tried to start I panic or something.

  • We are just starting to get this squared away. Don't stress out, you will find something that works for you.

It is such a frustrating process though! I understand!

  • I'm in the same boat as you are. My mother has offered to watch LO when she's home. My mom's s flight attendant so her schedule isn't something we can plan in advance. When she's not home I have no idea what we're going to do with LO.

Im getting stressed out over the whole thing but I guess something will work out. At least I hope it will

  • Ladies,

First, check with your HR department to see if you have EAP benefits that assist you with locating childcare. Some companies have discounts and other have services where you give them the search criteria and they find the providers that meet it. Have DH check at his job as well. (That is what I do for a living so I know)

Second, check with the childcare resource and referral in your area. You can find out which one services your zipcode by going to www.childcareaware.org.

Third, each state website usually has links to assist people with finding childcare.

    Hope this helps!

  • Wow thanks!

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who doesn't have definite plans yet. The few ladies I've spoken with this morning said "Well call me closer to when you need me." No! I don't want to be dragging my newborn baby around on childcare appts. I want it all lined up so I can spend my maternity leave relaxing and bonding.

  • We're just starting as well. Evaluating babysitter vs in-home child care vs traditional child care. It's quite stressful!!
