Bloat or too much weight gain?

I am just over 9 weeks and have started weighing myself. ?My pre-pg weight was always around 155-158. ?Today I weighed 163... I have felt bloated around my middle, but not THAT bloated. ?Has anyone else had an inflated number (pun intended) that was just bloat? ?Or is it actual weight gain??

Re: Bloat or too much weight gain?

  • My weight fluctuates about 5 pounds a day depending on bloat and how constipated I am.  I weighed myself this morning and was under 140 for the first time in years!

  • Actually I'm quite the opposite. I see and feel the difference in my clothes and how I feel, but the scale doesn't! I asked my midwife and she said I should start to see it the scale soon.
  • I wonder this myself.....my tummy has been really uneasy for the past few weeks and I think I'm just bloated but I'm not really sure.
  • I have been feeling the bloat... look and feel it, however, I've actually lost 3 lbs. from pre-pg. ?From what I hear though, everyone becomes pretty even in 2nd tri. ?If you're concerned, talk to your doc.
  • I gained a little weight right away mostly due to the change in my diet (eating more regularly and not trying to diet)...I wouldn't worry about it...if you are eating healthy and gain a few pounds it is probably necessary...my start weight was around 160 and I'm now at 171 (depending on the day).  My clothes still fit...the are snug around my belly but nothing else has changed, so I don't think theres any need to panick...

Remember that all of our bodies are different and you know if you've been eating right :)  As long as you're not OVER indulging and are at least walking or getting some sort of exercise, you are probably growing just the way that you are supposed to!

Someone else mentioned weight change due to constipation- that has been a big thing for me...so that might be where your extra pounds are coming from as well :)
