Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If you started solids at 6 mos..

how long did it take for your LO to "enjoy" food? we're about 2 weeks in and I'm wondering how long it will be before he's opening his mouth (on purpose!) and really get into the eating thing...

Re: If you started solids at 6 mos..

  • She's just now starting to really open her mouth and show me that she "wants it". She rarely picks up the puffs though and we're nowhere near starting finger foods. On the weekends we EBF. It's okay though, I'm alright with taking it slow. She doesn't need the solids anyway.

  • We started around 5.5 months. It took about a month. I'd try some finger foods- like Yogurt Melts, etc.

  • The first couple days of introducing new things she wasn't too interested.  She's just starting to open her mouth before I even get the spoon close to her face lol.
  • It's only been the last couple weeks that he knows what he likes and doesn't like. And I don't have to make him laugh for him to open his mouth...

  • my kid will open up and gobble up anything orange.  not so much with anything else.  he loves his sweet potatoes.  we are still trying to get him on 2 meals a day constantly.  we gave puffs a try and that was a big FAIL.

  • We started solids right at 5 months, once a day in the evening, and it wasn't going well.  He just wouldn't open his mouth, wasn't interested in the food and he inevitably would start to cry.  I was frustrated; he was frustrated.  The week before he turned 6 months, we took off a week from solids.   We just picked it up again one week ago and this week has gone great.  He opens his mouth, is excited to eat, and is getting considerably less messy.
