1st Trimester

H1N1-not normal should I get it? promise :)-WYD?

So my OB wants me to get this vx-of course I am was on the fence-did my research and then decided to get it-

Of course I am in the first trimester and my OB said it was fine to get it now-while I have heard other OBs have said to wait--

I have a history of m/c and my last u/s showed a great baby, great HB etc. but a very small sac :( which could be fine or could be the start of something awful...I have another u/s on Fri. I am supposed to go to the Dr. and get my vx this week as in today or tomorrow..

I kinda want to wait to make sure the bambino is okay, I am of course worried about m/c due to the vx and then of course worried about getting the virus!

So with all that knowledge would you gals wait till the 2nd trimester or after the u/s-or just get the vaccine now?

Thanks!!

  • Simply for peace of mind, I would wait until after your u/s to see that the LO is okay.  If you got the vax and then m/c you would probably blame yourself for getting the vax and wonder what would have happened if you waited.  See that you LO is okay, and then get the vax as soon as possible.  GL!

And in case it's relevant at all, I did get the H1N1 vax.

That being said, this question is asked a million times a day on here and if you went back a few pages, I'm sure you could find some answers.

It's a personal choice and you have to do what you feel comfortable with.  Fwiw, I got it 2 weeks ago.

-She did give me advice-and that was to get it now-and while I respect her opinion and her expertise-I still like to see how other moms to be would handle it..that's all..it helps my thought process ya see :) especially with my history-I get very very anal about anything entering my body-that includes vx and viruses ;)

  • I think it's all up to you, everyone feels differently about it. ?At this point I'm still on the fence but I know my dr. will try to convince me to get it (I really think they do it to save their own butt). ?I live in NYC and take the crowded subway everyday with coughing people so I am more at risk than most woman. ?How exposed are you to other people daily? ?Do you drive to work in you own car? ?Do you work with kids, the sick or just a lot of people in general? ?How likely are you to really get sick? ? ? ?
  • I was a little uneasy as well but did my homework and got the preservative free shot. Women have been getting the flu shot for years while PG so I didn't feel it was much different after doing a little homework and talking with my doctor.

I live in a major city-seattle-but work from home-I do have a three year old in school 4 days a week-and kids are germ magnets-
