Re: Pregnancy/Mommy Confessions. Fess up everyone!!

  • I will start! When I was pregnant, I was a gestational diabetic so I was on the stricter diet. My guilty pregnancy pleasure was ice cream. Even though I really wasn't supposed to have it, I had it about 3-4 nights a week after I had tested for the night. As a mommy, the first thing that comes to mind is that we took Hayden to Six Flags when he was about 10 weeks old. In all the fun we were having, I kind of forgot to change his diaper during the day. So at the end of the day he had a very wet and very full diaper.

  • I am not above letting my DD watch a little dora while I get a minute to relax.

I did drink the occasional glass of wine...heck my dr told me to when I was stuck in prodromal labor. He said it may help stop the contractions.

  • I enjoyed some wine every now and then (like once a week) after I reached 30 weeks.  MIL thought I was a horrible person, but whatever.  I would only drink about half a glass, but let me tell you, I totally enjoyed it!!!
  • my sitter bailed today so I have ginny plopped right in front of wow wow wubbzy. I have a major deadline with a BIG TIME client so I really don't have a choice. believe me, I feel really terrible!!!

  • I dropped him in the swing this morning even though I know he gets bored, so I could exercise. He started crying after about 15 mins and I moved him to the couch and propped him up so I could finish. So much for being a part of the AP board! Wink

Seriously, I felt SO bad when he cried that I started crying too. No idea how I'm ever going to exercise on a regular basis.

  • I have a can of coke or Dr. Pepper a few times a week (I know, not really that terrible).  I also have a weakness for sandwiches when I'm pregnant for some reason -- and I don't always heat the meat, especially if it is from a reputable place.

As for mommy confession, sometimes I pretend to be asleep if Ava wakes up at night so that DH will get up with her instead (hey -- I'm growing two babies -- I need my sleep!).  I also have to admit that I have put on Elmo's world just to give myself a break before!

  • When she was really little, if DD fell asleep in the boppy I let her stay asleep there.  Even though it clearly says "NO SLEEPING" on the tag.  I was always right there, but it made me feel kind of guilty.

I've done this (specifically, day we closed on our house a couple weeks ago, I don't think he was changed from about 7 am to 2 pm). I felt AWFUL!

  • I, too, was a gestational diabetic.  I was very diet controlled (never had a high reading), but after I tested well with pancakes and the doctor took me off testing 4 times a day, I started adding syrup on my pancakes.  I don't use a lot, but I'm sure it spiked my blood sugar.  That was my daily breakfast.

I sometimes pretend that I haven't noticed that DD is wet and then have to get up for something (i.e. handing her off to DH) so he'll have to change her diaper.  I never ever do it when I'm the only one home with him, but I figure it can't hurt while he's here, right?

I'm sure there's more - I'm not a perfect mom.  But I can't think of any right now.

  • This last week I have been really relaxed about my GD.  I have been testing but not exactly when I am suppose to test.

  • I've eaten a few things I know I shouldn't have. I came clean to my ob because I felt quilty and her comment "who hasn't eaten a few things they shouldn't while pg".

  • I eat cold deli meat, soft cheeses, cooked sushi, drink a cup of caffiene daily, and use Splenda.  And don?t even think twice!

(I once tried to tell someone who commented about my cheese-eating about the pasturized vs. unpasturized thing, but now I just say, "You know, I really have a lot bigger things to worry about!")

AND!  Friday night I ate an ice cube out of DH's margarita ;)

  • I have a diet soda once or twice a week.  I routinely steal a drink from my DH's beer when we are out.  Now that I am well into my 2nd tri, I've had a wine spritzer of my own the last couple of weekends.  I've had a few deli sandwiches as well.
  • I eat a ridiculous amount of junk food...I love fast food and sweets and rarely ever do I attempt NOT to eat junk food when I'm craving it...

Tonight we are having a home cooked meal...and I would so much rather have a Big Mac...

I've gained 18.5 lbs so far, so I guess the junk food agrees with me, lol.

  • I turn the sound off on the monitor if I hear DS stirring in the morning.  I leave the video on and I can see him moving around on it.  I want to sleep in the morning, so I don't jump right up and get him.  I let him play (or babble) for a little while so I can get a little more sleep.  Plus if he cries I can hear just fine w/o the sound on the monitor.   Oh and in the morning after his 1st bottle/diaper change, I'll sit him on the floor with some toys and I'll bring my laptop in his room and check email. facebook and SAIF board.
