  • You never do lupron with antagonist.  BCP is optional depending on your REs preference.

I am currently doing Antagonist and am on BCP - I will stop BCP for 3 days and then start stimming.  I will add in Ganirelix around stim day 5 or so to prevent a natural LH surge and O.

  • LCB is right-no lupron on antagonist. Most of the ladies I see on this board do  BCPs on antagonist but I never have. I always start stims on day 2 of my cycle.

  • I did an antagonist protocol for this cycle, but I was on BCPs.
  • I did antagonist both times. The first time I used BCP, but the second I didn't. I started stimming on CD 2 the second time. I found it relatively easy with little side effected. I did Follistim 2x a day. Around day 5 of stims, I added Ganerilix until trigger.
  • I did antagonist as well, but was on BCPs for two cycles (we decided to not do them continuously for the two months I was on, since my RE doesn't like you to be on them for more than 6 weeks straight.)

I was so relieved I didn't have to to lupron, I was afraid of it!

  • I did antagonist with 10 days BCP prior to stimming for IVF#1 and I am again now for IVF#2. I feel fine other than a little tired, whereas on Lupron I felt 'dead'. We got a good number of eggs the first time and am hoping for the same for IVF#2.

    Good luck!!

  • I am on antagonist but did not do birth control pills first. They oversupress me, so I skipped them!

  • my first IVF cycle was one converted from IUI - so no BCP there. :)

b/c we got so many quality eggs in the first cycle, we just stuck with antagonist for the 2nd, and no BCP. just took provera to induce AF and started stims on cd3 of my cycle.

GL! feel free to PM me with any more ?s.

  • I did the antagonist protocol and was on BCP for only about a week.  The only reason I was on them at all is because my RE has everyone start the cycle at the same time.  So because of when my period started, I was put on BCP for almost a week and then taken off so I could start my meds at the same time as everyone else.  I wouldn't have been on them at all, if my period had just held out for another week or so.  Good luck!
