Eco-Friendly Family

Because you women are so organized.

I have been put in charge of "home care" for a friend that is donating his kidney to a stranger.  WOW, is what I thought when I found out he was doing that.

Anyway- Does anyone have a spreadsheet or an example of a calendar for the tasks involved?

Cleaning, food, overnight stays, doctor visits?

Thanks.

Re: Because you women are so organized.

  • Are you managing meds, too?  If so, I strongly recommend a diary to keep them straight.
  • Loading the player...
  • They'll probably want I&Os (in and out -- food/liquid intake and output).
  • I'm a nurse, so I have the meds covered, it's the rest that overwhelms me.  The meals, the tasks, the overnight stays, all the volunteers. Yikes!
  • Hmmmm, I have no idea where you would find something so unique to that situation, but I'm sure you could do it on our own with a little planning.

For cleaning, I'm not sure how long something like that would tak to recover from but I'm guessing like 6-8 wks maybe, I have no clue. But tell them to jot down the things the'll need during that period of time. Maybe two laundry shifts per week, one bathroom cleaning per week, one person each night to just "pick up" and put the dishes in dishwasher, tidy up, etc.

Then for food just have a person each night sign up for a hot meal in disposable containers (I know, not EF, but I've read it's easier when someone doesn't have to worry about cleaning/returning all the dishes). Then makes lunches super simple, like soup and whoever the caretaker is at that time can just heat it up real quick.

    And so on....

Then put it all into a large calendar and post it somwhere so everyone knows who is doing what. Then at the bottom, mab have a master sheet saying "Mondays cleaning person should take care of this task, this task, and this task."

LOL...then I guess you know all too well about I&Os.

    =)

  • 1)  Can I get a copy of this kick ass spread sheet that I know you are going to put together?

    2) Can I please volunteer to make a meal or two?  Someone would have to pick them up but I'd love to help at least a little.  I do happen to be a pretty decent cook...so I promise he won't be eating slop.  I might even make a loaf of my homemade whole wheat bread. :)
