Icky smell! (Outside, not me!)

So for the last couple of weeks (and specifically the last week or so) in the mornings and sometimes evenings it smells like really strong sulfur in front of our house and the neighbors. We live in a detached house but they are set up like condos (walk way down the front that 8 of us share). This morning it was so bad! It's gross!! We sleep with our windows open and it smelled our whole house up! I have a candle burning now and we bought some air fresheners at Target this morning to try and keep the smell out! It doesn't smell like it now and so I have all the windows and doors open and the fans going (thankfully it's a gorgeous SoCal day!). I don't think it's coming from inside ... but I am wondering if it's coming from the sprinklers. I sent a request to the city to come check it out, but in the mean time, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!

ETA: Subject line since I'm still giggling over how many of you thought I was talking about my vag! Hahahaha

Anyone ever dealt with this? Any clues what it might be??

I just want to say that I am relieved that you are talking about your house, because from the title of the post I thought your "icky smell" was going to be about a smell coming from down there...haha

haha, me too! Sometimes we would get a strange sulfur smell at our old house... turns out there was a sewer leak close by. Double ewwww!

I have no idea but it sounds like a sewage issue. I hope they figure it out soon!

I vote for sewer issue too! Hopefully the smell stays outside and doesn't start inside your house!

Ging, it's nasty up here! But only in the mornings and maybe a little bit at night. I don't smell it right now. I wonder what's going on. I haven't noticed if it's in the whole neighborhood or just in front of our street.

That's so weird, I thought it was just our neighborhood, but when I was running this morning I kept getting whiffs that smelled like rotten eggs. I was almost gagging. Must be a sewage problem or something. So gross.

who is in charge of the sprinklers? is it reclaimed water (purples pipes?)

if it is, thats what I would guess is the problems. In SoCal there is lots of reclaimed water used for irrigation. You might be near the end of the line which would cause those problems. Are you near a golf course?

Hmm not sure on the reclaimed water. I sent a request to the city to see if they'll check it out. My neighbor said she smells it as she leaves the neighborhood so maybe it's not just our street. No golf course. But we do live right next to a reservoir.

Ging lives pretty close to me so it's interesting that she's smelling it too. There's no manufacturing or anything so I don't know what would be causing it.

Ging, are you still smelling it? We went to breakfast this morning and when we got back we couldn't smell it anymore. I didn't smell it up in Foothill either.
