Just curious...how many of you posted regularly on the Nest or the Knot?
I dabbled with the Knot...but could only put up with so much conversation over the color periwinkle.
I used the knot a lot for the checklists and stuff but since it is almost all american i didnt really use the message boards or vendor suggestions, etc. I really didn't go on the nest much. but i think its because i wasn't working toward anything so didnt see the point, like the wedding or a baby.
I didn't really use The Knot or The Nest. I used TK for ideas and checklists and whatnot so I wouldn't forget anything but I think I only went to TN once or twice but didn't really like it. The Bump is becoming like my 2nd home though It's easier to bond with people that are going through some of the same stuff you are at the same time. TK has people doing weddings but everybody is doing something different. There's only so many ways you can have a baby so its easier to bond with people on here.
I also used the knot for checklists and suggestions. I would lurk on some message boards to get ideas or read about similar drama I was experiencing. I used the nest for some decorating ideas and budget planners. I liked using the calculator to guess how long it was going to take to pay off the honeymoon
I'm still very new on the bump and I sometimes find it hard to keep up on the boards. Life is busy! However, when TTC, it's nice to talk and vent to ladies in a similar situation.
I spent a lot of time on the Knot when I was planning our wedding (2005-2006). Since then, I've only spent time on the Nest and, most recently, the Bump. I like some of the Nest boards but since wanting to get KU the past year I've spent more time on the Bump.
I posted on the Knot boards frequently throughout the planning process (primarily by local, and P&E) because I was an OOT bride, and I still post on my local occasionally, mainly when I'm paged.
I started posting on the Nest boards before I was married, and still post there daily, but I mainly stick to the P&CE boards with occasional forays into the Cleaning & Organzing, and Fashion & Beauty boards.

Ah good point about most of the vendors being American on the Nest.
side note: like I mentioned in the post below, I teach geo and I have several students from Canada. Can I tell you, I pitty the American students in this class because those Canada chicks come to the class with awesome background! Your schools must do geo right!
I posted on the Knot frequently in my monthly board (June '09). I really liked it, the girls were great and, like this board, we were going though everything at the same time.
The nest is nice too. I posted on that board religiously for the first 2 months after being married. I usually posted in my local board and D&R, however, most of the local board got KU and went over to the bump, so there are not many locals on The Nest in teh Carolina Board right now.
I love this board. This is the only board I have ever been on the bump, but I love it. I feel that everyone here is so supportive and truly helpful.
I think this and the Knot were my favorite becuase I can post in boards where I am having the same experiences as others.
I used the Knot for checklists. I used other checklists too. (I'm definitely a list maker!) I never posted there though, or used vendor suggestions. I knew what I wanted for flowers, colors, etc...so I didn't feel the need to discuss things.
I used to Knot quite a bit before my wedding. Got to where I started avoiding the P&E board because I was sick of women ganging up on others like the movie, "Mean Girls". Soon after I got married and came back from our honeymoon I discovered I was pregnant so I ventured over to the Bump.
I used TK for 2.2 secs, it freaked me out and stressed me out, so I started posting on my local nest board a year before my wedding. I'm active on this board, my local nest board and my local bump board, sometimes on Green Living on the nest as well.

I was on the Knot for a while- I liked arguing with people on P&E.
I am still on the Nest. I refuse to ever log in through the Bump. I'm still mad at them for switching to that stupid name.
Oh Oh -- then if you liked to argue on P&E, let me ask you a question. I received an invite to an engagement party for a wedding that DH is in (mutual friend, I work work with the man). The envelope was addressed to my husband with no mention of brining a signif. other. But when DH asked the guy about whether or not to bring me, he acted like this was the stupidest question...of course he should.
When you address invitations, whether to a wedding or otherwise, should both spouses be on the invitation?

Yeah, I think its kind of funny that we have to learn all our stuff and all 50 states too and pretty much everything. We had a few American students come here who knew absolutely nothing about Canada, it was sad.

Yea, the American kids (by and large) have very little understanding of most geo concepts. I'm always shocked by their map reading skills (or lack there of). I sit there thinking "the map is GIVVVVVING you the answer...it's RIGHT there!" but...no.
I only used the Knot for planning, I didn't post at all. I've posted on the Nest a few times, but I seem to have jumped straight to the Bump. I like the vibe here best.

You are supposed to address it to both if you are wanting both there. The inside envelope should list all who are invited to the wedding. If a person is not listed, then he or she is not invited. Sounds like your DH's friend screwed things up.

Goood this is exactly what I told DH. More reason to hate the FI (she addressed them) -- she sucks for so many reasons...I'll just add this to the list.
I used to post on the Knot. It got kinda old. It drives me crazy how some women talk about etiquette (some women come across like snobs). It works better in life and marriage to just set boundaries and deal directly with the people in your life.
I like the Holiday board on the Nest, but I am only on there occasionally.
I am more on the bump.

I used the knot and the nest. Never used the knot message boards cause I didn't know they had them...I was so focused on planning the wedding by myself! I used the nest message boards a little, but after we bought the house I didn't really use them anymore. When we start painting and decorating, I'll probably use them again.

I found the national boards on the knot shortly after I was engaged and never left. I am a reg. on the Wedding Woes board. I check out the nest for entertainment purposes and I post on a few boards here.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I would pot a lot on my month board ( Sept 09), sometimes P&E when I was looking for some entertainment and the dress board when I felt like being helpful. Only once in a blue moon would I post on my local. I barely ever go on the nest except for posting on my anniversary board & also the pets board.

I used the knot when I was planning my first wedding and then moved over to the nest. After that marriage didn't work out, I faded away a bit, and I'm back now. I have a different screen name though because my old one had a reference to my ex.
When i got married in 2005 i was a frequent knot user, then when i was KU with DS in 2006 i was a frequent bump user. I haven't been back on since 2007 since we are now trying for #2
I used the knot for the check lists for planning our wedding. I posted quite a bit on the nest, then when the bump cane to be I started posting there as I was more focused on that part of my life. Overall, I prefer the bump.

I never posted on the Knot. I used it for reference when planning my wedding, but I actually had no idea there were message boards.
I accidentally stumbled across the boards on the Nest one day and I still post over there daily... probably more than I post on the Bump.
