3rd Trimester

Big mistake telling my friends I'm 3 cm dilated.

I told them yesterday after my dr's appt and this morning I woke up to 5 voicemails asking me if I was at the hospital in labor yet. Super Angry

  • Lol I love the angry face. At least they're concerned! However, I'm not at the point where people ask me that stuff yet, so I can assume it gets frustrating!

  • Oh no!  That's so funny.  My cousin called freaking out yesterday because she went for her first internal at 36 weeks and she is 50% effaced and 1cm dilated.  She was like, I can't have this baby yet I am not ready!  I told her I have pretty much been effaced since my 36 week appt. and dilated 2cm and the doctor told me I could still go overdue so not to worry too much.  Still my family is that way too.  Everyday now they ask, are you having contractions yet?

  • Don't beat yourself up over it.  They would call regardless, my friends have been calling ALL week and I didn't tell them of our progress (or lack thereof).
  • I agree...when I was 2cm folks went nuts.  Every time I turned around I was getting comments on how the baby would not stay in until the end of October well guess what....it's the end of October and I am still pregnant.  This time I didn't even announce that I was at 3cm because I knew the hysteria would be kicked  up even more.
  • The best is when I call back a family member and they answer all excited like something is going on.  It just makes me get disappointed to b/c I wish I had news for them.
  • My friend told everyone on FB 2 weeks ago that she's dilated, to which she got a lot of the same replies. She keeps saying she can go at anytime and didn't attend my shower a couple of weeks ago because of it. This week I found out she progressed to 2 cm, to which she says "she wants to come out early!" Yes it's possible she can go at any minute now, but her EDD is in 7 days anyway. She's constantly getting "did you have her yet" posts and she keeps responding "soon!" Early to me would have been a month ago. Now your baby's on time.

  • Thanks for the warning. I'll make sure I don't tell anyone how far along I am when it comes to that point.

    Same here.

  • Yeah.....well...I was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced TWO weeks ago.....I told people too and they've been calling ever since.

SO annoying......and I'm annoyed that my doctor told me b/c it has given me false hope.....

  • This is the exact reason why I'm happy I'm not getting regular internals done. People become so incredibly obsessed.
  • This happens regardless or whether you tell someone or not. I didn't tell anyone, yet daily my family or friends are calling asking me if I am having contractions, have I had the baby etc....My due date is 3 weeks away people.
