It's nice to temp be a parent of one

My bil, sil and their wife and husband are visiting this weekend. They all vacated the house and took ds up to the Detroit Zoo to visit an otter than sil used to work with back home (I'm not making this stuff up, I swear!). They won't be back until late this afternoon.

I got to snuggle with Ariel in bed until 10:30 (gasp!) and then she kept sleeping while I went to take a shower and shave my legs (gasp gasp!). Now she's in there while I nosh on a late breakfast and get some bumping/nesting done. I forgot what it's like to just have one kid that spends the day pooping, eating and sleeping. Even with the reflux tantrums, I'll take this over the addition of a demanding toddler any day! What am I going to do when dh goes back to work on Monday?! Stick out tongue

  • I fully expect to remember the good old days of just having to deal with one when #2 comes along.  Enjoy your time as a parent to 1!

  • I totally know what you mean. When I was on maternity leave, often times my mom would take DS somewhere like the children;s museum or the pool or something and I'd just sigh thinking about how hard I thought my first baby was. Then I look back now and laugh and think, I had NO idea taking care of one baby was such a breeze. But then of course I think I'm dreaming when I believe that when we have our third, the older two will just play with each other while I take care of the baby, haha!

  • This is exactly why I felt like having the second child was 10,000x harder than having the first.  Even still, going out (or staying in) is so much easier with one.
