XP: Anyone's LO not eat that much?

So Trig eats 20 ounces of breastmilk a day. Wow, I know, not very much. It's different for him, though, because it's actually really high calorie stuff (it's breastmilk mixed with formula, as prescribed by his neonatologist and pediatrician, and he's been on that his whole life). I know that this isn't very much and sometimes it's a struggle to get him to eat that much. I even wake him up when I go to bed at night (around 11pm) to eat, and he eats but doesn't wake up. He also eats 2 solid food meals a day.

Anyone else have these issues? I mean, he eats as much as I can possibly get him to eat. I am going to ask his pediatrician about it at our next appointment but seriously, how can he be 8 months old and eat that little? And he hasn't increased the amount he eats since 3 months!!!

Re: XP: Anyone's LO not eat that much?

  • Yea that doesn't seem like much but if he is growing and has plenty of wet diapers then it should be okay but definitely ask the ped. One problem with high calorie bottles is that they get the calories but not enough fluids so maybe ask about decreasing the calorie amount so he will take more of it (not get full so quickly).
