Okay, here are mine:
* Some friends of ours named their son Angus. Middle name? Rib. NOT kidding! Angus Rib, folks.
* Also, my Mom suggested we name our daughter Milagros. That means "miracle" in Spanish. I seriously laughed out loud at her. Yes, our baby is a miracle, but come on Mom!
Alright...your turn!!
Re: Fun Thread: What is the ugliest baby name you've heard?
A friend told me of 2 names she overheard on a trip to a rural area:
Nissan Sentra Brown
and my personal favorite:
Spatula

MY FIL suggested several times that we name DS ChandraShaker...now, we were all for Indian names, but Chandra Shaker, really??
FWIW, I think Esperanza is a beautiful name!
I heard that a woman called her baby "Female" and pronounced it "Feh-mall-eee" because that what the doctors had put on the baby's hospital bracelet! (Since she didn't have a name they put "Female [last name]")
My cousin volunteered at a daycare where a little boy's name was "Sh!thead" pronounced "Shi-thay-ed" Not even joking...
Yeah most Greek names are pretty ugly when said to English-speaking people, lol. I think my least favorite is Paraskevi, just because it means "Friday."
I went to high school with a girl named Thawaba. She was incredibly sweet and I feel bad saying it, but what a horrible name. It just sounds ugly. I think the worst part is that her sister's name was Linda.
i love Angus and Milagro! to each their own, i guess!
uggghhh...i have heard people tell these stories for years. your cousin along with everyone's cousin met a Shithead i am sure!
My sister's middle name is Spiridoula. I don't find it to be that common of a Greek name. My father's name is Haralambos which is pretty bad. I don't think Greek names should be included in the ugliest name category because there are so many to choose from and it's just not fair.
Besides names that are off the chart uneek... Marvin is pretty ugly.
Wolfgang
My best friend's sister named her baby boy that. They call him "Wolfie"

I think this has morphed into a baby name urban legend, my MIL told me about this too - "a friend of a friend knew someone who..."!! It just seems too crazy to be true!!
wolfgang is on my list. it is a german name and i find nothing ugly about it!
Let's see:
Maimunah
Dorkus Thomas (first and last name)
Understanding
Not saying they are ugly..... Just saying they are uncommon.
Lemonjello pronoucned Lem on zsa lo and Orangejello, pronouned Oron zsa lo. And my personal fav Shithead, prounounced *** teed.
I've since give my sister the token Orangejello, my BIL is Lemonjello, I am Shithead, DH is Shitlist, pronounced *** leest, and my neice is Limonjello : )
Actually, my cousin's story is true. She volunteered there for a child pysch course she was taking (They were observing, etc). The daycare was in a bad part of the city and there was a little boy named that. Hence the "Not even joking" part of my post.
I've heard this too (Lemonjello & Orangello)... was told about it in college. Since we've both heard it, perhaps it's an OWT?

for years people on these boards have claimed that they have had a cousin with a student named shithead. it just seems awfully fishy that there are so many shitheads out there
Plus it's always the cousin, not the sister, not the neigbor but the cousin.
surprised "La-A" hasn't come up yet!
Yeah its quite possible. I haven't actually met anyone with the name, just heard of it. I just think its funny. When I call up my BIL I actually say "whats up Lemonjello" : )
I can't tell if you're being defensive or what?
"Ugly" is a subjective term. You don't find it ugly, but I do. Whatevs.
Evelyn (3.24.10), Graham (5.30.13) & Miles (8.28.16)
i am sure it will! everyone knows a la-A, right!!
Ha Ha when DH and I were making names lists I put it down as a joke. When he got to it he said well how is it pronounced. I said what do you think? And he was like "Ummm I love you but we're not naming our baby Lahyphena" I still laugh about that randomly.
the orangello and lemonjello story became really popular after the book freakonomics came out. after that book everyone claimed to know an orangello and lemongello!
I literally just LOLed!!
) I would totally laugh about that randomly too. hahaha!
i just said i like the name and don't find it ugly. what is defensive about this?
A-a.
The "dash" is suppose to be read literally. So the name A-a is pronounced Adasha. I did'nt know you could use characters in names until I heard this one at a preschool!!!!

Some people...
I think she's stating a fact and now you sound defensive. I think we all agree with you that 'ugly' is definitely subjective!
