Fun Thread: What is the ugliest baby name you've heard?

Okay, here are mine:

* Some friends of ours named their son Angus.  Middle name?  Rib.  NOT kidding!  Angus Rib, folks.

* Also, my Mom suggested we name our daughter Milagros.  That means "miracle" in Spanish.  I seriously laughed out loud at her.  Yes, our baby is a miracle, but come on Mom!

Alright...your turn!!

Re: Fun Thread: What is the ugliest baby name you've heard?

  • lol my sister if she has another baby and its a girl she wants to name her Esperanza because it means "hope" in spanish?? lol best part is we arent spanish, we are whiter than casper. lol

  • I can't think of who told me but someone said they went to school with a girl named Anita.  Her last name was "***"  Baaaaaad choice there!  Even worse, her father's name was Harry!  You think he would have known to pick a better name for his daughter than Anita ***...
Dylan Gabriel 04/29/10 Aiden Drake 04/28/12
  • A friend told me of 2 names she overheard on a trip to a rural area:

    Nissan Sentra Brown

    and my personal favorite:

    Spatula

  • I teach in an extremely diverse neighborhood, so some of my students who have to live their whole lives here wind up with the most awful names. Among them this year are::: Mahfuj (pronpunced moe-fudge), Epshita (phonetic), and the worst of all??? Disnella, after, of course, DISNey's CinderELLA - and her mom shares the same name. I also hate the uber-common Greek girl's name Spiridoula (as is) that my MIL wanted us to name our daughter. And come to think of it, my DH is lucky he's hot cause his name's Panagiotis (pah-nah-YO-teese), but we call him Peter.
  • the daughter of one of the guys my dad used to work with named her little girl "Uvadix".  Poor baby, it makes me think of all kinds of bad things...

  • MY FIL suggested several times that we name DS ChandraShaker...now, we were all for Indian names, but Chandra Shaker, really??

FWIW, I think Esperanza is a beautiful name!

  • I heard that a woman called her baby "Female" and pronounced it "Feh-mall-eee" because that what the doctors had put on the baby's hospital bracelet! (Since she didn't have a name they put "Female [last name]")

My cousin volunteered at a daycare where a little boy's name was "Sh!thead" pronounced "Shi-thay-ed" Not even joking...

Yeah most Greek names are pretty ugly when said to English-speaking people, lol. I think my least favorite is Paraskevi, just because it means "Friday."

I went to high school with a girl named Thawaba. She was incredibly sweet and I feel bad saying it, but what a horrible name. It just sounds  ugly. I think the worst part is that her sister's name was Linda.

  • My FIL says we have to name the baby Arthur Bishop. Because Arthur Pope didn't sound dignified enough. Not the worst I've heard...but, seriously?

My sister's middle name is Spiridoula. I don't find it to be that common of a Greek name. My father's name is Haralambos which is pretty bad. I don't think Greek names should be included in the ugliest name category because there are so many to choose from and it's just not fair. :)

Besides names that are off the chart uneek... Marvin is pretty ugly.

  • Fifi Trixibelle and Peaches Honeyblossom. They're kids to a couple celebrities. I feel sorry for them

Actually, my cousin's story is true. She volunteered there for a child pysch course she was taking (They were observing, etc). The daycare was in a bad part of the city and there was a little boy named that. Hence the "Not even joking" part of my post.

for years people on these boards have claimed that they have had a cousin with a student named shithead.  it just seems awfully fishy that there are so many shitheads out there

Ha Ha when DH and I were making names lists I put it down as a joke.  When he got to it he said well how is it pronounced.  I said what do you think?  And he was like "Ummm I love you but we're not naming our baby Lahyphena"  I still laugh about that randomly.
