Pregnant after a Loss

ok I think it's time...when did you...

ok so yesterday I thought I should have got out the bella band b/c my suit was too tight....thought it was a suit issue.  HOWEVER my pants today which are much lower riders are still not feeling too great. :(

when did you 1. start using a bella or belly band and 2. start maternity clothes?  I understand that typically with a 2nd you start earlier, so I'm asking specifically when you did with your first LO?  thanks! :)

  • I got a Be Band around 12 weeks I think, maybe 13. According to the size chart, I should have gotten a M/L, but they only had S/M, so I got that. I don't feel like it's done a great job until recently when I've gotten bigger. It worked well enough, but I felt like I had to adjust it alot. Now that I'm bigger, it works much better.

I'm still holding out on Maternity jeans... and keeping my fingers crossed. I think that as long as you keep the Be/Bella Band low enough (like down on your butt) and just keep the top part above the waist of your pants, it will work. You just have to be willing to wear it low enough at the start.

  • I was so bloated when I got my BFP that I went out and bought a bella band right away. It totally kept me comfortable and I was able to wear my normal jeans until about 21 weeks. I bought some actual maternity pants/shirts around 13 weeks, but didn't really need them until around 20 weeks as well. They are very comfortable though so if you will feel better getting a couple items now, i say go for it. I would also buy regular shirts, just in a larger size (like long sleeved tees and tank tops), with this being said, i've grown out of most of them at this point so my wardrobe is pretty limited. It is a savings over buying most maternity clothes though as they can be very expensive. Hope this helps!

  • I was just thinking the same thing. I am also 11 weeks, and am starting to get uncomfatble in my normal clothes. I just feel like my clothes look to small. I was not "small" to begin with, but i am also 5'11 and i was in a size 10.
  • I absolutely despised my BeBand.  I think it was because my pants were already snug when I got my BFP, so early pg. bloat just busted me right out of them.  The band rode up constantly and I was always messing with it.  Plus with how often I was going to the bathroom, it was just the most annoying thing.

I started in mat. pants at 8 wks because I needed to be comfortable and didn't see much sense in buying regular pants that fit when I was just going to need mat. pants in the next couple months anyway.

  • 1. 14 weeks

    2. 22 weeks - half bella band half maternity and then by 26 weeks full maternity in pants

  • I hated the band.

My clothes started to be tight at 11 weeks so I went the baggy road for a while.  I needed pants at 15 weeks; about half my tops still fit me but not for much longer.

  • I never got a bella band but I switched full time to maternity pants around 15w. I wish I had done it sooner honestly.
  • I've used the be band and worn maternity pants off and on since about 13/14 weeks. I can still wear some of my regular pants without the be band though. On days when I'm not leaving the house, I'll wear the maternity pants just because they're more comfortable while sitting at the computer.

  • With my first I didn't wear maturnity until 25 weeks. BUT I also had a lot of work clothes that were a size or two bigger b.c I had lots a lot of weight.  The second time around I started wearing them around 22 weeks maybe?  And finally this time it was much earlier.  It was just way more comfortable... I want to say 15 weeks?
