Poll (not clicky) - Share your names!

I am fascinated by baby names for some reason - I stalk the SSA's website every year.  I'm curious what names you are thinking about for your LO's and if it matches the "popular names" on this site:

https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

So - what are your name choices, and if you want to add it, what is the name's popularity last year?

LO's to-be-name, David, is #14.

  • We are going with Noah - #15

  • We are naming our little girl Sara.  In 2008 it was ranked #92.
  • Peanuts name will be Rylee which was #116 last year.
  • Pretty sure we're going with Alexander (#6) Gregory. I've never been one to care about name popularity, finding a boy name we both liked was hard enough - I could care less if it's common or not!
  • I dont know the sexes yet, but my top 2 girl names are Taylor and Jordan.  I dont have any boy names yet, but if it is boys I know what their middle names will be (both family names.)

  • Matthew Edward #10

    or

    Madalyn Ann #292

  • (We would have picked David if it were #1 or #998; I just find the historical trends of names interesting.)

  • If it is a boy he will be named Julian (#61) after DH's grandfather. I still have not warmed up to the name, but it means the world to DH.
  • We can't decide on any first names.  There are none I love and know are "it" like we did with Evelyn (was #74 when we chose it), if she was a boy she would have been Ethan (now #3).  But if it's a boy, mns are William Anthony (family names) and they are #8 and 7.  We would like to find something not in the top 20, but it seems unlikely since all the tops ones are so beautiful.

  • These are ours so far...

    Charles Leo (our dad's names)

James Harold (just like the first name and the middle is DH's grandfather's)

Katelyn Marie (middle is my middle and DH's grandma's)

Ava Reeny (middle was my grandma's nickname for Noreen)

Julian was one of DH's top picks for a boy name. I never quite wamed up to it either though. Will you call him anything for short?

  • If it's a girl, it will be Charlotte - #87.  No boy's name yet though (not like we're getting down to the wire or anything lol).

  • If it's a boy- Bryson #178

    If a girl- Chloe #10

  • Our top 2 are Avianna (Ah-vee-ahnna) and Marlowe.

Nadia and Macie are on our short list too.

  • If it is a boy: Thomas (#52) Xavier(#71). If it's a girl: Elena (not ranked) Grace (#21).  Honestly I like our names and would not change them depending on popularity but as of right now, that's what we've agreed on!

I joked with DH and said I would call him Jules (it's cute but kind of girly). I have seen that sometimes people use Ian or Lee for short.

It is not a bad name, I just never pictured that name for my son.

ETA: I think Jude is also used.

  • Zachary # 47

  • We are in the beginning stages of names but the one we love so far is Elise Katelynn (#284 and 219).  If it was a boy it was going to be Bryce (118) but were not sure about mn.
  • We like Trevor for a boy and Courtney for a girl. Both names were not in the top 100 last year.

  • We've not picked any.. I've a few on my short list, so i'll have to check out their popularity... I wish we could sit down and get a short list for either boy or girl cause it's driving me nuts!!  This will be handy actually cause I want to be sure that LO doesn't grow up with a really common name so I'll know what I have to steer away from!
  • We're not 100% certain yet.  These are our current favorites:

    Girl: Amira (#436) Ann

Boy: Zain (#797) (don't have a middle name yet)

  • Kaygan ... not in the top 1000... not surprising!

  • DH doesn't want to worry about names till we find out the sex,but myself I like Hunter for a boy, and Abigail or Adelaide for a girl.

This was my name quiz from last time.... my choices haven't changed, so i'm keeping it =)

  • DD will be Eleanor Rose. Eleanor was 256 last year, it's climbing but slowly so I'm confident she won't be one of 5 in her class. Smile

  • I always said that if I ever had a girl, she would be Isabella. Well, I'm having a girl and as much as I think it's SUCH a beautiful name, I can't do it. It's just too popular right now and ... I just can't do it. That said, we agreed on a name (not sharing) that was in the top 200 last year - like 180 something.

  • We don't know the sex yet, but if it is a boy it will be Nicholas (#29) - still deciding on the spelling.  And if it's a girl it will be Natasha (#413)
  • Our little girl is named Harper (298) Matilda (829).
  • Shhhh, we aren't sharing IRL but so far her name will be Leah (#41) Kate (#139)
  • We are going with Lanie.  It didn't even come up in the list.  I know it's a NN for elena but we are just naming her Lanie.
  • We won't be telling anyone IRL for quite som time, but we've had names for quite a while.

Boy: Grant (142) McKee (DH's dad's middle name)

Girl: Lillian (29)  It was my great-grandma's name, but it's getting so popular I'm not sure if I'm going to use it for a first name or not....  I really like using family names, though.
