Best place to buy prefolds and fitteds

Hi, I'm trying to build up a stash of prefolds, fitteds, and covers.  Where is they best place online to purchase?  By best I mean in terms of variety, price, and shipping costs.  TIA!

Re: Best place to buy prefolds and fitteds

  • The quality of Green Mountain Diapers' prefolds is really difficult to find elsewhere.  I'd buy all of my prefolds from them.  Fitteds...wow...there are so many choices.  Any particular size or style you're looking for?

this. For fitteds, I have liked the customer service and speed of shipping from Jillians Drawers. If you stalk their gently used section, you can find good deals on Thirsties Fab Fitteds and Kissaluvs sometimes.

  • The cheapest prefolds I have seen are seconds from Little Lions.  That is what we have and I love them.  GMD's are the gold standard of prefolds, but the reason I like prefolds is cheapness- I don't need the pricey ones.

If you get prefolds from soemwhere and don't like the covers that company sells, check out Amazon and Abbys Lane.  Amazon is free shipping over 25$, adn AL is free for everything, so you can get just a few covers and not pay shipping costs.  Personally I love the Thirsties Duo covers.

Fitteds deserves a whole seperate post, LOL.  I would suggest buying fitteds used to try them out as new they can be very pricey.  The most popular fitteds are probably goodmamas, mother ease one size, and piddle poddles.  None of those will work for a tiny newborn, but are "one size" for ~12 lbs to maybe 30 lbs.

I'm thinking of the Kissaluvs for newborns.

  • Often you can find lots of used KL's on diaperswappers or spots corner.  Depending on the size of your baby they may fit from anywhere from a few weeks to several months.
  • Little Lions also has PF's and Flats

  • Honestly, I would highly suggest buying used at the very beginning, not only because they grow so quickly, but also so you can figure out what works best for you and LO. A couple good places to look for used diapers is Swap Spot (on this site), Spots Corner (on hyenacart.com), and diaperswappers.com (although be careful since there is a virus over there sometimes, but still the best place to buy and sell).

If you plan on diapering full time, I'd suggest some type of combination of prefolds, fitteds, covers, and a few AIOs for overnight/going out/daddy time. Plan on a newborn going through about 12 diapers a day and honestly, I only found the time to do diapers every three days, so about 36-40 diapers is best, about 5-6 covers (maybe one wool for naps/overnight), a pail liner (could use a pillow case), a snappis or two if you get prefolds, and possibly a wetbag or two depending on if you go out a lot/where you will keep dirty diapers. HTH!
