dr browns bottles not working?

every now and then some of our dr brown bottles stops working.  it's not clogged, and sometimes running water over the two inner parts (the clear tube and the beigeish circular thing) works, sometimes it doesn't.  Anyone know what could be wrong?  Do you think we should buy all new inner parts?

The formula just gets stuck and it doesn't flow like it should.  DD gets very frustrated and ends up sucking air, which causes major gas.

Re: dr browns bottles not working?

  • We did buy some new beige parts from ebay (new and in package of course).  They were a lot cheaper than buying them online from wherever.  Then when we got the new ones, we realized how "worn" the old ones were.  And we think they did work better.

  • have you tried the ventaires?  Not as many parts as the Dr browns and they work just as well.

  • If the nipple ring is tightened too much, this happens with our Dr. Brown's bottles.

FWIW, we tried Ventaires, too, and they leaked like mad.  (And yes, I read all the "secrets" online for getting them not to leak.)

  • I've been using Dr. Browns for 7 months with zero issues.  Are you shaking the formula up in the bottle?  If so it is possible chunks are getting stuck in the tubes.  I mix my formula every morning in a big jug and pour into the bottles as needed.
