I have a new client (::crossing fingers::), and the director of the clinic is gluten free. I need a munchy to bring that will knock off his GF-socks. Is there such a thing as a GF donut? Alternately, what is your all-time favorite GF snack?
TIA TIA TIA!
Re: Gluten free peeps....may I borrow your brain trust?
Mother's Day, 2011
GF donuts are gross, as are GF bagels. GF crackers are not bad.
snack: Chex mix style with GF cereal (butter, salt, hot sauce then bake). There are a lot out there, Trader Joe's has some really good choices. And popcorn. and chocolate.
If you feel like baking and have time to go to the store for GF oats, I LOVE this oatmeal cookie recipe.
I agree that pre-made GF donuts, most breads, etc. are awful. Do you have a Whole Foods nearby? They sell some great GF baked goods from their own dedicated gluten free bakery.
DH loves this recipe for GF danish. I make 'em with cream cheese and strawberry preserves.
Another, possibly easiest possibility is GF peanut butter cookies. Assuming there is no peanut allergy. This recipe requires no special ingredients, but you would need a fresh jar of peanut butter.
I didn't ask...do you want to make or buy?
If you want to cook/bake I have something that is essentially GF cereals with some peanut buttery flavor corn syrup concoction topped with (if you like) melted chocolate chips, etc. It's the consistency of rice crispy treats almost but PB and chocolate and maybe less kid like?
ETA: my brother is gluten intolerant. I can get more ideas when my mom gets home b/c she makes a lot for him. Pies with GF crust (purchase at Whole Foods), some GF brownies/cookies/cakes maybe?
