3rd Trimester

So, how many bags are you packing?

Last time I packed 3. ?The biggest which was a small suitcase was for me with all of my stuff. ?Then I brought a smaller rolling suitcase for DH, which had clothes, blanket and pillow, shower stuff and snacks for him and then a diaper bag for LO. Does this seem excessive? Or pretty standard? ?I want to bring all the same stuff I brought the first time so I am assuming I will need all three bags again. ?

Re: So, how many bags are you packing?

  • I will have 1 bag for me....a diaper bag for LO with anything he might need.

DH doesnt need a bag. :)

  • I'm bringing one duffel type bag with things we need.  DH can easily drive home if need be (we live 10 minutes from the hospital!).  I will also pack a small bag for baby, but DH will bring that when needed.

  • That seems like a lot to me. I brought one big duffel bag that held my clothes, shower stuff, snacks, labor music, etc. It also held DH's change of clothes and shower stuff, as well as our new son's going home outfit, etc. I can't imagine why you'd need a diaper bag in the hospital. They have everything you need right there.

I put his baby book/ clothing/ blanket/ pregnancy journal which I wrote in about my labor progress (49 hours so, lots to write). I put his paci's that I wanted to use, a book (which we actually read to him) and his coming home outfit in it. ?

My bag was pretty stuffed since I brought my boppy (used it tons), pillows (used tons), clothes (wished I brought more actually), toiletries (also wish I brought more). ?DH liked having his own stuff too. ?But, like I said I was there a long time. ?But, if anything I will be bringing more this time, not less.?

  • Bag for my stuff and outfit for baby, bag with all my labor tools that we may not end up using, but are bringing anyway (tennis ball, yoga ball, suckers, ipod with headphones etc.) I don't know if DH is bringing a bag. We live less than 2 miles from the hospital, I figure he can run home at any time because my mom will be there at the hospital with me too.

I guess you did need your diaper bag! Love that you did a pregnancy journal- cute keepsake for children.

  • I also have 3.  I have a small rolling suitcase for myself, a small tote for DH and the diaper bag for LO.  I'm not bringing a lot of the things that I've seen on hospital bag packing lists, so I can't imagine how many bags I'd need if I followed the lists I saw online!

  • I hadn't really thought about this, but since you brought it up. I'll probably bring a bag with mine and DH's clothes, toiletries etc. It'll probably be a good size duffel type bag. I'll also be bring a diaper type bag for baby with her clothes (I plan on dressing her in her own clothes from the beginning). The diaper bag will be pretty much empty so that we can stuff it with all the hospital goodies that are given to you during your stay. I figure I'm going to be paying a pretty penny out of pocket for my hospital stay I might as well get to take home the free stuff, LOL!

This.  We only live 3 miles from the hospital, so he can just run home whenever.
