  • That happened to me too, although they said I'd been measuring somewhat big all along. I have a growth u/s on Friday, even though I am measuring closer to dates now. It's not an exact science for sure!

  • Hmm my last u/s showed her a couple of days ahead but 4 weeks does seem like a LOT.  Maybe get a second opinion?  =/
  • Four weeks? That does seem like alot.  - I have been measuring two weeks ahead since my u/s @ 12weeks. Doc sent me for a growth scan about a month ago and everything checks out! : )

  • Was the baby measuring 4 weeks ahead via an ultrasound or was this when they measured your fundus height?

  • I know someone who was measuring at least 4 weeks ahead with her pregnancy.  She still went 2 weeks overdue and ended up with a c-section because her body just wasn't progressing for labor.  Oh and baby was 9lbs 5oz, at 2 weeks overdue.
  • You mean your uterus is measuring 4 weeks ahead, right?

Mine is too, as of my 28 week appointment. I am also scheduled for a growth u/s. I have measured ahead from day one and baby was normal size at 20 weeks so my fingers are crossed that I just have a freakishly large belly or something.

I am kind of scared of being told I'm having a huge baby and need induction or c/s. I have my heart set on a natural birth. :(

  • I had an ultrasound at 29 weeks and LO measured at 33 weeks.  Just had another one last week at 34 weeks and LO is measuring at 40 weeks.  They're estimating him at 7 pounds, 6 ounces last week at 34 weeks!

Thankfully, I'm having a c-section.  Hope yours works out ok!

  • If YOU're measuring big (rather than baby measuring big on u/s), it could have something to do with your fluid level.
  • At my 20 week u/s he was measuring 9 days ahead.  At my 34 week u/s he was measuring 3 weeks ahead.  Tomorrow I go for another one at 37 weeks.  Hopefully his growth has slowed down.  I have been seeing midwives through my insurance care providers and they're concerned.  The last u/s made me no longer eligible for a birth center birth because his abdominal circumference is 7% more than his head which concerns them for shoulder distentia.  I'm actually also seeing a home birth midwife because I'm planning a homebirth and she is not concerned about his size at all.  My family has a history of large babies.  Of 9 nieces and nephews, smallest 8lbs 2 oz and largest 10lbs 8 oz.  All born drug free.
