traveling w/ lo what you could not do without

We are  traveling with our DS over xmas for 5 days and my mom wanted to rent us some stuff for him. I don't really think its necessary. we are going to bring our pnp, snapngo, carseat. Is there something big I am forgetting?

Re: traveling w/ lo what you could not do without

  • Bring toys to keep DS busy. I never leave home with out DD's leap frog worm. It plays songs and has rattles on it. She loves it.
  • Loading the player...
  • We need to  travel with his bouncer (he LOVES it and naps in it) and his play mat.

  • forgot to mention we are flying so space is limited

  • Must have the Baby Crack Machine, PNP and floor mat.

  • Carseat, stroller, PNP are all you need. Toys help on the plane. I also tookmy Boppy pillow on the plane and it made holding/feeding so much easier.
  • If he's into a swing or bouncer then take it.  TAKE IT LOL

DD couldn't live without her swing but we didn't take one because it's too big and we figured, no biggie.  The first two days we were there, we couldn't put her down anywhere she would cry.  My cousin ended up lending us her swing which was great.  I came home and bought a travel swing.

  • Sounds like you have the basics covered. I would bring some toys as well. When we visited my mom she borrowed a PNP and a travel swing because it would have been ridiculous to try to take these things onto the plane with us.
  • Take your MOBY on the plane.  You wont have to take him out when you pass through security.  If he's in the stroller, you will have to take him out to pass the stroller through the xray thingy.
  • Also, when we traveled to visit my mom, she was able to buy a car seat at a garage sale for like $15, so we didn't have to bring ours.  Also, we have a PNP for when we're there.  All we took was him.  No extras.

Not sure if this would be an option for you, but we will be sending some things overnight via FedEx so we don't have to deal with it while flying.

  • thanks all. I almost forgot the sleep sheep have to put that on the list and definitely the moby. we have a travel swing but I think it would be way to much to bring it.
  • I bought this playmat for DS when we went to NY (2 months) and Flordia (4 months).  It fit easily in the bottom of our suitcase and he loved playing with it!

The reviews about the bar staying up are just from people who didn't realize there are legs that fold out on the bottom to stabilize the bar.  We added extra toys to it and didn't have any problems.

I would never in a million years use a car seat that was bought at a garage sale. You don't know where it's been, if it was involved in an accident, etc. IMO, it's the one safety item people shouldn't mess with. Although I gate checked my car seat for free, I would have paid to get it to where I was going. If it was a place I'd be traveling to frequently, I's think about buying a reasonably-priced car seat to keep there.

  • So he'll be 5 months...DS just needs a couple rattles now, and he's only 4 months.  For the most part he just plays by himself or in the Jumperoo....and I could surely leave home without it.
  • sounds like you have the basics covered.  Bring some toys and a book or two for the plane.  What I did at my ILs is buy an exersaucer off CL.  You might be able to find one for cheap at a consignment store too or your mom might be able to borrow one from one of her friends.  It is VERY helpful to have someplace safe to park DC.  DD was around that age when we went for Christmas and only took me 3 days to figure out I needed to go get one.  At 5 mos, he'll likely be too old for the bouncy seat (trying to sit up and so it can tip) so I'd get an exersaucer or something similar that he can sit in and be entertained.

I was going to suggest Moby for the airport.
