Eco-Friendly Family

Intro

Hi everyone!  I'm new here, so I thought I'd spill the beans...

DH and I have been married for a little over four years, we have been TTC for 6 months now and just had a mc last week.  We have been looking into a healthier cleaner way of life, and we feel small changes here and there will add up big time.  I'm very interested in any suggestions you great ladies have on cleaning, food, really anything and everything, and I'm very excited to be here to learn from the masters!  Can't wait to get to know you!

Re: Intro

  • Welcome - sorry to hear about your miscarriage, but hoping the EFF water will bring you great news soon!

My favorite EF change has been using our own cleaning products.  We use mostly a 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water and a few drops of essential oils for our general cleaner.  Add baking soda for some extra cleaning power.  Works wonderfully, and I feel so much better about cleaning now.

  • Welcome, hope that the EFF waters bring you good luck (they're powerful!)

Our easiest EF change was to stop using dryer sheets and instead use dryer balls - I've noticed no change in static and its cheaper and less chemical intensive!

  • Welcome!

I agree with papagena about cleaning products.  We do pretty much exactly the same thing and I feel so much better about it - and it works great!

The EFF blog is a great source of info, also.  Here's a link.

  • Thanks everyone!  So I love this idea on the cleaner, for the extra power of the baking soda, do you mix it in with the liquid or do you put the powder down first, spray vinegar mix on top, and scrub?  Love this!
  • This is a great idea too.  Do you do this instead of liquid softener as well?

Mostly I sprinkle the baking soda on, and then spray.  You can make a paste with the two, but I haven't really ever found that necessary.

You can use vinegar for fabric softner.  We do that - 1/4 cup used in the same way you'd use the softner.  We even go without half the time now - I don't even notice.   Embarrassed  You can also scent the vinegar for the fabric softner with Essential Oils.  I haven't, but know others that have.

Hey, how about that!  Thanks for the support, it is one of the hardest things, but we are getting through somehow.  This seems like such a great group!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and advice - can't wait to try them all!
