What's the worst job you've ever had?

Mine was working at Subway.  I hated working with food.  My managers were sketchy, my paycheck bounced three times, I finally was just paid in cash.

  • I worked at a soft pretzel place in the mall.  It was my first job and it was miserable.  I called out sick once, found a replacement before I even called out and they called me and fired me over the phone because I was too unreliable.  The place was bought out a month later.

  • Bank teller - awful! just awful!
  • Ugh... I was the only girl working at a coal burning power plant. I shoveled, and painted, and did inventory. Everyone there had mullets.

    This.

  • When I was 15 I worked at a truck stop diner as a waitress.  It was just me and one cook, so I did EVERYTHING.  And we did not have a dishwasher, everything was done by hand.  It sucked hardcord.

I think I'm scarred for life after that job.

  • I worked for a labrotory that tested phramaceuticals (sp?) and I don't have a degree in any kind of science!  I would always let my calls go the voicemail so I could look up what the client was talking about, then find out how their sample was doing, and come up with an answer to the question.  There was one client that would have me paged ALL OF THE TIME!!!  I got paged while I was in the restroom and someone came in to get me!  Ugh...that only lasted 4 months!
  • I worked at a Curves and it was a nightmare. It wasn't so much the job but the people I worked for, they cut me back to 14 hours/week because I told them they had to pay me for the overtime I had worked while she was on a vacation. The pathetic thing about it all is only made min. wage and they didn't want to pay me overtime!

  • When I was in college, I worked at the customer service desk at Marshall's one summer. People would steal stuff and then try to return it for cash. It was horrible.
  • I worked the overnight shift cleaning at the Saddlebrook Golf Resort in Zephyrhills, FL.  I cleaned TWENTY bathrooms everynight from 10pm to 6am.

    That sucked.

I worked Subway too! Since I had an internship a couple days a week during this one summer, I needed an off hour job (since I had previously worked temp office jobs every summer). I ended up working 3rd shift at a Subway in a truck stop. Prostitutes, or "lot lizards" were constantly wandering in and there were lots of drunk people. One of my coworkers stole my purse one night!

  • Overnight stocker at Target. My first night they kept me an additional 3 hours later than everyone else to have me do the crap extra jobs (loading the box crusher, etc.) and I fell asleep in the car while driving home. I almost got into an accident, luckily the other person swerved in time. When I told them the next night, requesting that they not keep me over until my body clock was adjusted fully, they laughed at me and basically said "tough shiit." The next day I asked management to switch me to a day shift job.

I was a cashier a week later. Which sucked in its own right. Once I actually threw up AT THE REGISTER, IN FRONT OF A CUSTOMER and they wouldn't let me leave early, despite it being slow. The lady actually came through my register the next week and asked me if I was feeling better! I also went in once on my way to the ER to let them know I wasn't coming in that afternoon (I didn't have a phone at the time) because I was covered in hives and vomiting, and they actually seemed like it wasn't a good reason to not work.?

    Contemplating the snow.

  • Sales Support Manager at JCPenney.  I could write a book about my zany experiences...

...catching prostitutes using fitting rooms for "liaisons" with their clients...

...once a thief pushed a lady down the escalator

...drunk or high people driving through two sets of glass doors, shattering everything

I could go on and on and on!  I don't miss those days.
