best way to hide the taste of iron supplement?

So the results came back from DS's 9 month bloodwork and he's mildly anemic, so I have a lovely iron supplement for him (not getting enough from his cheerios apparently).

The drops went over like a lead balloon (or an iron ballon I suppose  Stick out tongue) He REFUSED them.  Doc said it's ok to mix it into something, but I'm not wasting another bottle of BM on these drops.

What do others use? I was thinking the strawberry applesauce he likes? Or yogurt?

  • Those are good options. Or else the pharmacy also usually has a flavorizer thing for kids who reject the taste of meds.

  • Apple juice hides the taste very well. I'm not sure if you have given him apple juice yet, or if it's even appropriate at his age(I have a newborn). I have had to take an iron supplement since she was born and I cannot taste the iron in apple juice. Hope that helps!
