We are predicted(which I know is not 100%) to have a 10lb baby and also a very long baby. If you had an over 9lb baby did your LO end up wearing newborn clothes very long?? TIA
C was 9 pounds, 4 ounces and wore NB clothing for about a month. I know of 8 pounders that couldn't fit in NB clothing, however ... It depends on how your babe is shaped, really. Definitely hold on to/purchase NB stuff.
Just curious..did you have ultrasounds all the way through to predict weight and length or did they just go by your fundal length? My doctor is adimit that our baby will be around 22 inches and 9-10lbs, she has been in the 985 all along with 5 ultrasounds starting at 20 weeks.

My fundal height was only 2 weeks ahead with my first baby, the one that was 6lbs even, but thats what she went off of...no u/s.
My second baby wasnt ever predicted to be big but I had several u/s. I did, however, measure 10 weeks a head with her so Im glad we had the u/s because if we went off of that I would have been scared that she was a giant. She came out at 5lbs 15oz.
E was 9lbs 7oz at birth. She wore some (not all) newborn stuff for the first few weeks, but definitely fit into 0-3 months right away. She was a GD baby - and so her shoulders were a lot bigger/wider so that made a difference too.
Hi! My LO was 9 lbs 4oz. He could maybe fit in certain brands of NB stuff for the first 2 weeks but not most of it. Better to just go with 0-3 in my opinion.
also, I was consistently measuring 2-3 weeks ahead my whole pregnancy. growth ultrasound at 40 wk 1 day put him at 9 lbs, and he was born 3 days later at 9 lbs 4 oz.
DD was 9 lb 6 oz and 20.5 inches. She fit into nb clothing for about 3 weeks. 0-3 mos was still too big on her when she was born! I don't find the labeling on the clothing to be 100% accurate--Carters nb label says 5-8 lbs but DD was able to wear nb clothing until she was about 10.5 lbs!
My DS was 8lb 8oz, 21 1/2" at birth. ?He only wore a few newborn things that we had received as gifts, I didn't buy any newborn stuff. ?He only wore the NB stuff he had for a couple of weeks because of his length, not weight.. so I'd say to just go with the 0-3 right away. ?I'm glad that I didn't go nuts buying a bunch of NB things... GL!!!!
DS was 9lb 5oz and 22 in and can still wear NB stuff from carters. I'll probably only get another week or so out of them but I can not stand when clothes are swimming on a baby- it seems so uncomfortable the way they ride up to their face! I'd hang on to them.

We had know idea that she would be that big until I had her. Afterwards the doc admitted that I may have been as much as 3 weeks over due.
My DS was 9 pounds 8 ounces- he fit into nb clothes for probably the first month. I'd say get some just in case. Every baby is different so ya never know what will fit your LO.

Lurking ...

My first DD was predicted to be a 9lbs baby and she came out a whopping 6lbs0oz....she wore preemie clothes and newborn clothes.
If your LO really does weigh 9 lbs+, my guess is no,you wont need then seeing as how newborn clothes are "up to 8lbs"

we had a c/s due to the u/s indications that Bryson was over 9 lbs and he never dropped. he was 9 lbs 11 oz at birth.
we never used nb diapers, and he wore nb clothing for maybe 2 wks.

Yes. Was trying for a VBAC with this baby but at 10 days late and no progress, I opted for another c/s. (Hence why we has so big!)
It really depends on how your LO is built. DD was 9.6 and 22.5 inches. Newborn clothes were too big for her until she was about 3 weeks old.
