2nd Trimester

pretty sure I have H1N1. Now what?

I have all the symptoms and it's aweful. I don't know what to do. I keep getting mixed advice from family/friends about going to the doctor. Basically what alot of them are saying is that the doctor can't do anything for me anyway so I should just stay home.

What would you do?  Ugh my brain is in such a fog!

    Go to the friggin doctor.

  • my temp has been around 102 but I have been keeping it down with tylenol round the clock.  I just can't stand the chills that come with fevers.
  • 102 is high. My nurse said to call if mine gets to 100.  You need to call or go in.

This.  Haven't they heard pregnant women have been dying from this??!! Get treatment, and then kick them in the shins.

THIS! 102 is a very high fever for you being pregnant! Do not try to self medicate and not seek treatment!!!

  • Call your OB. When they thought I had it they prescribed me tamiflu over the phone and told me to take it ASAP.
  • Call your doctor.

  • Go to the doc. Either they'll help you and you'll be fine or you'll hear it right from the doc that there's nothing they can do. And who knows, they might tell you you're just sick and don't have H1N1.
  • The more I think about this, the more I want to throat punch your "advisor."

I hope you feel better ASAP!

I know, right?  I don't understand what they could be thinking, offering that kind of "advice".

    This.

  • There is somewhat of a time restriction on starting Tamiflu, so call your OB on call ASAP. (You need to start it within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms.)

I just reread the OP and she said there were many people who told her that... Throat punches for everyone!

  • I've had H1N1 for over a week now, went to the dr. a day and a half after symptoms started (Monday) and they wouldn't even give me Tamiflu. I went back on Friday and basically there's nothing they can do, so I'm just riding it out. It's really, really awful. I get winded walking from the bedroom to the bathroom and climbing the stairs might as well be scaling a mountain, so I've just been lying around in bed mostly, and drinking water. Dr. said it lasts about a week so hopefully I'll be over it pretty soon.
  • The doc might not let you go in if there's any chance you have the flu. I had it and they called me in a prescription of Tamiflu, which I never took because I'd been ill for more than the allotted 48 hours anyway.  I just got the Tamiflu and am saving it in case someone is in need and can't afford it.

  • You need to call your doctor's office and get through to the doctor who is on call.  I did this when I thought I had the flu (I didn't have it) and the doctor said that he was glad I called.  He called in Tamiflu for me and told me that if my fever gets to 103 and/or I have difficulty breathing, to go straight to the hospital emergency room.  With a 102 fever, you should DEFINITELY be calling your doctor!
