POLL: Did you keep your wedding cards???

I have held onto them for six years- lol. I am purging and totally tempted to throw them all out.

Did you keep yours?

  • I kept them too. I don't know what I'll ever do with them, but I feel bad throwing them away.

  • Yes, but DH and I are card hoarders.
  • Yes. I've had them for 7 years and through 3 moves. I also kept all of the cards we received when DD was born.

  • Yep.  I have them all packed up in a box.  I also have all of the cards from when DD was born.

  • I kept them until we moved this Spring.  The amount of "stuff" we'd been holding onto was just insane.  They didn't make the packing cut.

  • No.  Our house is too small.  I think I did save them, until we bought our first place.  I'm sure it would have been cute to have them in a scapebook (although I'm way not a scrapbook kinda girl) or to scan the really good ones and make a photobook of the messages....but I didn't do any of those things.

  • So far I have kept them. If I ever dig out that box, I may go through them and only keep certain ones...like the ones from our parents or whatever...
  • We only got 4 cards (my parents, his parents, my grandparents, his aunt uncle & grandma). I've kept all 4 of them for the (almost) 2 years that we've been married. They don't take up much room, so I don't plan on ditching them anytime soon.
  • We have all our our wedding cards and response cards. We keep them in a box someone gave us that is meant for keepsakes :)

Same here, I also have DS's cards from when he was born and his first birthday.

  • Yep, I have ours too!
  • Nope.  However, I had a signature mat for our huge rehersal dinner and forgot to have people sign it.  So, instead I cut the signatures out of their cards and glued them to the signature mat.
  • Yep, I keep all cards! I dunno why..I hate throwing peoples thoughts and well wishes away I guess. I kept all of the cards from my baby shower and when DD was born, but I'm putting those into her scrapbook.

maybe one day I'll get rid of the rest. Like when I'm 80 probably..

  • To be honest, I don't know if I saved them or not! I can't remember. But I DO know I still have the response cards for the wedding.
  • I have a collage of them framed by our wedding portraits.

  • Yes, although I am not sure what the heck I am going to do with them all.
  • Kinda, I cut them all up and used them for a scrapbook I made of our wedding and honeymoon.
  • Being the minimalist I am, I didn't keep them. I don't want to seem like I'm not sentimental or anything but really, it's just a card. I couldn't ever envision myself opening a box of cards that I kept and sitting down to read them again. So I recycled them.

Also, it's not like there was anything terribly profound written in any of them. They were all the standard "lots of love on your wedding day, may you have many happy years, etc". I'm not usually such a downer, I swear : )

  • Yes, I'm a total packrat. I'll take that a step further - I kept all the gift bags!

  • I did for a couple years but got rid of them last year.

  • Yes, and I also have the ones from when DD was born and her first birthday as well.

When my grandmother died, we found a trunk that none of us knew existed, and inside were the cards given to her and my grandfather when they were married.  It was one of the most special times we shared as a family after she died--sitting on her living room floor, passing them to each other, and smiling.  I want my grandchildren to find ours someday, and reminisce about how much grandpa and grandma loved each other too.

  • No. I would never look at them again and I have too much stuff anyway.
  • just the ones from our immediate family.
