Talk to me about your post wash counts (IUI)

I just went through my first IUI and was told that my husbands post wash numbers were great. But they dropped by 1/2 from his SA....which had me concerned. I know the wash gets rid of the bad guys, but I was suprised it dropped so much. We ended up with 40 million, 99% motility. They didn't say anything about morphology though and I'm not sure why. Maybe they don't check it?

Thoughts? What did you/your hubs end up with?

According to my RE, they look for at least 1 million. My H's numbers were 135 million the first day, and 73 million the second day. The sperm wash is meant for morph I believe. My H has 2% morph so after the wash got rid of the bad guys, he had those numbers above.

That is a GREAT post wash count, so dont be discouraged!!! And no, they ususlly dont check morph for IUI's, as they dont have that much time with the sperm be fore you get it : ) But they should check for round cells every time..at least mine did.

All 3 of our IUI's ranged from 10-14 mil. post wash with 36-39% motility (we have MFI)

Those are great numbers! They don't do morph on the post wash counts just count and motility.

LOL yep that was AFTER! Thank God because he has 2% morph so I was scared out of my mind. They said he gets a gold star haha. Thanks, doc, now DH has a huuuuuge ego!

Sorry to butt in...but can I ask a question? We are dealing with MFI as well...DH has a very low count. Both doctors we have talked to are indicating that IUI is the next step. Are those numbers total number of sperm after wash or are they the number of sperm per mL after wash? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
