CD mommies...how do I strip?

My dipes are starting to stink even after wash and I think they are leaking now. I have FB, BG, RR, BB, Swaddlebees.

Thanks!

I asked on EFF as well.

  • I have used RLR before and it helped with ammonia. I've never had wicking. An ammonia smell is too much detergent, a zoo smell is not enough. What kind of detergent are you using? Make sure its CD friendly.

    I'm using Planet Detergent.

  • Another thing I've done to keep down ammonia is add a 1/2 cup of vinegar to my prewash (rinse ) cycle and then use my detergent in the regluar cycle.

Planet is a good one. Maybe you are using too much of it? How about diaper creams? They can cause wicking.

I use a 1/4 cup and no diaper creams.

  • Hmm... well, I know they say certain types of detergents work best with p particular type of water (hard vs soft). Maybe you just need to try something else.

1/4 cup of the liquid? That's too much.

IDK about the powder, but we use about a tablespoon of the liquid in our regular top loader.

That may be too much, not sure since I don't use a liquid one. I use Allen's powder and have a little scoop that came with it and only fill it a 1/4 or 1/3 full.So little that I would never think it

  • I've had good luck using plain blue Dawn dishsoap (a couple of small squirts per load) to strip.

GL, it can be frustrating when you can't get the right combination.

  • Check pinstripesandpolkadots.com. Different stripping fir different causes. I think in your case it would be strip with many hot washes until you see no bubbles in the water. Wash first normally if they are soiled, then many hit washes. Poor in some boiling water if you have top loader.
