CD's: If your LO has had diaper rash...

Luke has never really had diaper rash (minus a little redness that goes away with a little airing out). He has diarrhea pretty good and his poor little butt is so red and bumpy. He wears BG's 3.0's. I've been keeping him in these during the day, but I decided to put him in a disposable tonight (I have some leftovers from a camping trip we took) and I loaded him up real thick with Desitin. I normally put a little Aveeno on since its okay with my CDs, but didn't want to put a ton on, plus I'm all out of Aveeno. I feel guilty for not using the cloth, but I really want his diaper rash to clear.

What do you do?

Any suggestions to help heal it? I know its just from the diarrhea. I can change his diaper right after I hear him go and his butt is already irritated from all of the acids. I think he might be teething too???

Re: CD's: If your LO has had diaper rash...

  • If I have sposies on hand (leftover from a trip, etc) I do the same. It tends to clear it up really well overnight, and then I don't have to worry about ruining diapers/ using liners. No reason to feel bad!

  • If you are BF'ing, breastmilk is as good or better than any OTC ointment for clearing up diaper rashes.

  • I am still bfing, but not wanting to pull out the old breastpump (it's long been packed away at this point!). I do have a bunch of old frozen milk that will go to waste and might try that tomorrow. Thanks!!!!!!!
  • i squirt breastmilk all over his rash and even rubbed it in some.  it cleared up within 2-3 days (it was a baaad rash)
