Chicco Stroller?

So here's the deal- I already have the Chicco Cortina (Discovery) carseat and 3 bases (hand-me-down... but only 9 months old and I checked the manufacturer date and "Expiration" date and it's good till June 2014).

Rather than register for an ENTIRE travel system in addition to this- all I really need is the matching STROLLER.... however, I can't find the Chicco Cortina Discovery Stroller online anywhere (it's all just in the travel systems- which I would only need the stroller).

Now, I could still register for the travel system, and then give the carseat I already have to one of the grandparents- to have.... but I'm not sure if that's necessary...

Any suggestions?  TIA!

Re: Chicco Stroller?

  • I think this could be good or to keep 1 car seat in each of your cars. This way you and hubby dont have to go back and forth if you don't need to. Just remember if you do register for the travel system that it will likely come with 1 base, so go ahead and remove 1 off the registry.

  • I just tried a bunch of different searches & can't find just the stroller, sorry Sad  You might want to try emailing Chicco to ask if it's available for just the stroller or if they're discontinuing that design.

We're also trying for that set but in Atmosphere.  I emailed them & found out it's almost imposible to find because they discontinued that design Crying  I have only found the carseat 1 place but no one seems to have ever used that website so I'm nervous to purchase from there!!

  • I'd probably register for the travel system, and either put the other carseat in your other car or give to grandparents. Or you could find another stroller (not the Cortina Discovery) that is compatible with the Cortina carseat, that you might end up loving more.

If you do want the matching stroller though, I'd prob register for the travel system and find another spot for the carseat you were given.

  • Does it really need to match? We are getting a Baby Jogger City Mini (orange/gray) and a Snugride 32 (Black/Green) they don't match but I really didn't care... I'd rather have the stroller/carseat that I want. Just a thought....

  • Have you looked on Ebay? We've looked at some strollers on there - seems like I remember a lot of Chicco Cortina, but I can't remember which colors.

  • Why are you limiting yourself to just Chicco strollers?  There are other strollers that work with the Chicco car seats.

  • This discovery is the babies r us pattern I thought which I thought it was why it was hard to buy separately.

What about just getting the Adventure color.  Do they really need to match?  That's a lot of money to spend. I don't see the need for 2 infant carriers.

  • Yes, I'm anal and want the stroller and carseat to match LOL.

Being that any time that DH or I take LO out, we would likely be using the same carseat (since it just pops in and out, rather than unstrapping the baby outside and carrying LO in like that)

I'll probably just register for the travel system, give carseat I already have to one of the grandparents, and then with the 3 additional bases (since I'll get my own with the travel system), give one to DH, one to my parents, and one to either MIL or FIL (since they are divorced).

  • Yes, just getting the stroller in Adventure rather than a whole 'nother travel system is an option.  I just think it would bother me that they didn't match (I know, I'm weird).

Also, we're only looking at these particular strollers b/c that's what DH and I liked, the smooth ride, the fact that they were compact enough that I wouldn't be hitting into everything, etc.....

  • Also keep in mind that they'll only need to match for the first 7, 8, 9 months, until baby outgrows the infant seat. Buying an entire travel system that matches based on such a short time period seems like a waste of money to me. If you love it, thats fine, but don't just buy it because it all matches. Once baby outgrows it, you'll just use the stroller anyway.

  • We're getting the same travel system, and I've seen lots of people selling the stroller by itself on Craigslist...might be worth checking out if you can find one in good condition!
