Shoe size -- q for second time moms

Did your shoe size change much during pregnancy? How common is that?

I really NEED (yes, NEED!) some new boots, but don't want to grow out of them in two months.

  • My feet did not change or swell at all with either PG.

  • Mine did slightly. Before I was pg with DS I was a size 10. Once I got further long with him I had to switch up to 10 1/2 - 11. Once I had him, I never went back to 10's, but def. need a 10 1/2 now.

  • My feet were very swollen!  I attribute most of that to the summer heat and the fact that I was on my feet all day teaching kindergarten.  The most I did was buy one pair of tennis shoes in a wide width.  DS was born in early September though, so most of the time I wore flip flops.

  • My feet swelled so bad that I had to go buy cheap flip flops towards the end b/c it's the only thing that would fit.  DS was born in the middle of the summer though and I had really high BP and pre-e, so that was the main reason for the bad swelling.

About a week after I had DS, my feet went right back to normal!  So I'd say, get the boots!  It's cold in the winter anyway, so I doubt you're feet would swell all that much (plus it'd still be mid to late 2nd tri.)  I think you'll be fine.

  • Before DD I was a 6 1/2 or 7.  Now, although I can wear a 6 1/2, they are tight.

I was able to wear all of my 7's until about 2 weeks before delivery.  As unfashionable as it was, I resorted to flip flops for those last 2 weeks.

  • My feet were never swollen but they did get bigger - many of my shoes no longer fit "right."

  • Mine didn't swell or change at all during my first pregnancy. I think I got lucky!

  • Mine didn't swell during pregnancy, but after I have gone from a 71/2 to an 8.  I always though that was a myth, but apparently not.
  • Interesting! Thanks for sharing. So, it seems pretty common, then. Maybe I'll just get some cheap boots instead of the ones I'm lusting after. Payless it is! :)
  • I went up a half size and stayed there

  • Mine didn't at all with #1.  Although I know some people have this problem.  Its quite common.  And if you get really bad swelling in your feet when you get further along,  then you will have that problem.
  • My feet we so swollen with the first one, that they ended up a whole size bigger. After my daughter was born they stayed a 1/2 size bigger.

Wow! You needed a whole new shoe wardrobe!
