How "greasy" should lanolized wool covers be?

I bought a few from a woman who sold me a bunch of diapers, and she was nice enough to lanolize them for me.  However, they feel really greasy - like when you pick them up, it feels like you've just buttered a baking pan and immediately need to wash your hands.  Is this what they should feel like?  If not, what should I do with them?  DH has a weird sensory issue with grease, hand cream, etc., so there is no way he will touch them if they are supposed to be that greasy.  I barely want to.

Thank you!

  • Really it's personal preference.  They will last longer if they are well lanolized and it certainly doesn't hurt the baby, it's just like lotion.  So you can choose to lanolize less than she did.  It's up to you!
