LO weighed 7lb 4oz at birth, 19.25" long. He's still in NB clothes, though we may actually be able to start mixing in some of the 0-3 mos ... they're still really big on him, though.

DD was 8 lbs, 8 oz and she wore nb and can still wear a few nb things even at 10lbs 7 oz. She never got to wear some of them, it really just depends on how the brand runs. I personally wouldnt buy too many newborn sizes. My favorite thing she lives in are the gowns.
Yes, but we're not the norm. DS was 4 lbs 8 oz at birth and wore preemie clothes for a good few weeks. At 2 months he still fits into some newborn clothes (I'm finding there is a huge range in sizing from one companies "newborn to another's 0-3 and 3-6) but we also cloth diaper which take up a lot of room (which has been good for us). He is just over 9 lbs right now and can wear some still, fits into 0-3 with them just being a bit big on top and even some smaller 3-6 with being big on top so as you can see if def. depends on the actual outfit and company.
My DS does, he was 6 11 at birth and dipped down to 6 0 and now at 2 weeks is 6 6... other clothes swim on him. ?He can wear gerber 0-3 months and it is about right but other than that he is in NB. ?He is slowly gaining weight so we are thinking another week or two at least before he gets up to wearing 0-3

Honestly there's no way to know for sure, but I would at least register for/buy a few and keep them in packaging until you know they're needed.
Mine ended up 5,14. In the beginning he could only wear NB, and only certain brands. Gerber runs smallest, and Carters and Just My Size NB are pretty spot-on the 5-8 lb range. Don't bother with Circo stuff...he's just starting to fit their NB now at 11 pounds!
We started transitioning to 0-3 month stuff around 6 weeks, and so far have only "retired" the Gerber and Just My Size NB clothes.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
she was 8lb 3oz at birth- went down to 7lb 11oz or so- back up to 8lb 6oz by 2 weeks- wore NB until...yesterday or so. she can still fit into NB onsies- but not one pieces or anything.
5lbs 15oz at birth, wore preemie clothes for the first 2 weeks and then at around 7lbs started wearing the NB size and is just now growing out of them at 2 months.
So, we wore NB for 6 weeks and I had to go buy A LOT. I recommend buying about 8 onsies and maybe 8 outfits at the most and then if you need more, go buy it.
He is still in NB clothes! He was 7 lb 8 oz at birth, 20 inches long. We didn't think we were going to need any, so we had to go shopping for NB stuff after he was born. 0-3 are huge on him!
He would have fit in them for a very short time, and the 0-3 were a little big for a while, but it was better than wasting the $$ on NB size

LO weighed 8lbs 2oz at birth and wore NB clothes for longer than I thought he would. Keep in mind that it varies a lot by brand. For example, he wore Gerber NB onesies (not my favs, we got them as a gift) for maybe 3 weeks, but could wear Carter's NB for about 6 weeks. He is about 2.5 months old and has already outgrown the Old Navy 0-3 month clothes, I think they run small.

Hey! Yes and he grew out of newborn around 1 and a half month old. Sawyer weighed in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces at birth. I believe Sawyer was still able to fit into newborn clothes up until around 9 pounds or so.
Yes, LO is just making the transition now to 0-3 month clothes and she's 2 months. She was 6 lbs 12 oz at birth and 11 lbs 12 oz at her two month appointment.

he was 6 lb 7 oz at birth, went down to 6 lb 2 oz at his smallest and was in newborn sizes for 6 weeks- I had to go out and buy most of his NB wardrobe- I didn't buy much before he was born in case he was too big for them! I would just buy some basic things and keep the tags on and the reciepts in your wallet just in case- because if you do need them, you're not going to want to go out shopping those first few days
When my son was born, he was 7 lbs. 14 oz. and 20 inches long. Several months before he was born, I ended up buying a 5-pack of Carter's onesies that were newborn size. I was worried the whole time that he wouldn't fit into them because the tag said they were for babies 5-8 lbs. When he arrived I had planned on trying them to see if they would fit, but the day I was going to, he was quite fussy, so I didn't want to possibly stress him out even more. So I waited several days (maybe a week or more, can't recall exactly) and held one of them up and saw how small the neck was and figured they were going to be too small.
Aside from that set, I ended up buying 0-3 months mostly. Some of the clothing is quite big on him but others fit him well. Gerber's Onesies size 0-3 are real nice on him (fit him perfectly) and the Gerber Sleep 'n Play outfits were too. I saw in several forums (different website other than The Bump) that said Gerber's stuff runs small. I'd have to agree because I can't see him wearing 0-3 months size when he is 3 mos. old. Another reason I like Gerber clothing is because there are coupons online that you can use. If you go to the Gerber Childrenswear website they have a link on the homepage for special offers and coupons.
Some books I have read said to stay away from Newborn sizes too because they are quite small and they probably won't wear them for too long.
Wyatt was 7 lb 6 oz at birth, he was 9lb 11 oz last friday... he still wears some newborns, with some 0-3's mixed in. ? The 0-3's are generally pretty big, though, except the Gerber ones, that stuff is tiny!

Yes he is still in some of them and he is 9weeks old. We actually had to go buy preemie clothes for the first 2 weeks because he had to come a month early and only weighed 5 pounds.
My LO was born at 6lbs 12 oz and 19 inches..... he wore newborn clothes for about a month, month and a half. He actually took at least 3 weeks before they fit, he was in preemie clothes at first.
He is pretty short (still only 22inches) so he can still fit in some of his newborn clothes depending on the brand.
He is now 12lbs 7oz and wearing 0-3 months- but they are pretty big on him.
7pounds 7 ounces at birth he dropped about 5 ounces at the lowest he wore NB for about 6 weeks but it looks like he is only going to be in 0-3 month for about a month he had a huge growth spert and the 0-3 are getting to short. He is outgrowing in length only though.

8 lbs 11oz
Yes, for two weeks
9 lbs 4 oz.
not a chance! nb clothes are TINY. I had to return all my NB stuff.

birth- 7.5
left the hospital at 6.11
she wore NB for about a month
He was 8 lbs 4 oz & yep, he's in NB clothes.
I think maybe another week or two. His Gap 0-3's are big on him. Carter's NB is a perfect fit. Old Navy NB is a perfect fit, but not for long.

6lbs 13oz
He wore preemie for about 5 weeks then nb for like a week then in 0-3. He had a big growth spurt.
Yes, and he`s still small in them.
