19 week ultra sound showed cyst on baby's brain

Hi....I am 20 weeks and I had my 1st ultra sound done about a week ago. I went to the doctor yesterday and my doc said that during the ultra sound they had found a cyst on my baby's brain however she didn't say if there was one or more. She told me not to worry b/c my triplequad screen test came back normal and that they have often seen cyst disapper. She also said everything else on the ultra sound showed that the baby is  ok and growing well! Of course being a mom of 2 and never having to face this problem.....it's extremley hard for me not to worry! I just wanted to know has anyone else gone through this and what was your out come....I believe that everything will be ok!!! I go back for a 2nd ultra sound in about 4 weeks to make sure that everything is ok!  I am praying and hoping that my son is okay and that he will be very healthy!!

    My first baby had one--it was gone on it's own by 26weeks which is very normal.  It's a soft marker and if they didn't see any additional markers its not really a big deal  I would try not to worry to much, and recommend not reading all the info online since it will stress you out. Just pray and have faith.  My baby is healthy and doing great:)  GL

    Thanks....I must admit I have been doing a lot of research and what I have found is that this is normal and that most of them do go away! I'm guessing being a mom for the 3rd time and not ever hearing of anything like this is kinda hard to swallo....I have faith that all will be well! Once again THANKS!

    That happened to one of my friends about ten weeks ago. Sounds like the same thing that they saw on her baby's brain. It was a very scare time for her but when she went back a month later it was gone and had disappeared! Hoping that the same thing happens for you as well. I'll be thinking about you!

    They found these choroid plexus cysts on my little guy's brain scan as well. My OB is not the least bit concerned that they will turn into something to be worried about. He said he only sees 4-5 of them a year, but they are 99.99% of the time cleared up by time the 26 week ultrasound rolls around.

    I am scheduled for an ultrasound during my 26th week, over at the hospital. Everyone I have talked to said that they are nothing to be concerned about unless they haven't changed in size during the later ultrasound.

    For now, I'm not worrying about it because I know there is a 1% chance of it being linked to any birth defect. Especially when  his heart, lungs, kidneys and extremities all look normal. I'm not even sure whey they call them cysts, they are just pockets of spinal fluid that show up on the brain scan.
