I have a Medela Pump in Style Advanced, in the backpack. It's a double pump, much more efficient when pumping at work. Mine came with a manual pump that came in handy many times during the year I nursed my daughter.
I have the medela PISA (pump and bag, its a double electric). I had manual one too - only used it once, such a PITA in comparrison. If you are going to work outside the home, and want to continue BFing, I really suggest investing on one of the top-of-the line models. Its worth every penny, I promise.
I have not 100% looked into the brand yet, but am for sure getting a electric double pump set. Also, since I will be going back to work I will be getting a bag set just for convienence.
double for sure-- after getting advice from some mother friends of mine that are currently breastfeeding, double is the only way to go!
Will you get a manual one in addition to an electric one?
i may get a manual as a backup just in case something goes wrong with the electric (since they are more expensive and i probably won't want to shell out money for another!). i'm thinking about putting a manual on my registry and my mother said she will pay for my electric pump.
Are you just getting the pump or one of those whole pump + bag sets?
i haven't been to a store to see it in person, but i believe the mi pump comes in a bag but i don't think the lansinoh does. it doesn't really matter to me-- i will just stick it down in a bag of my own if it doesn't come with one!

I believe I'm going with the Medela Freestyle. I want something hands free (where I don't need a big strapping contraption around my whole body). It's supposed to have a really natural pump action. It plugs in or has a battery. I hear manuals don't have enough suction and besides, you're going to get a hand cramp.
I've been looking at the Philips AVENT Electric Breast Pump Duo...it comes with the pump, bottles, and "a variety of accessories to make pumping on the go easier such as
nipples, sealing discs, cool packs, insulated carriers and more".
I figure even if BF'ing doesn't go as planned, I can still pump.
I think I am going to go with the Medela In Style or Freestyle. I don't believe you can buy just the pump, as it seems to always come with the bag. If I go with the In Style, I think I will just go with the cheapest bag set because they all seem to be the same pump and your just paying for the different bags.
I am also purchasing the Lansinoh manual pump for hassle free pumping at home. I believe one down fall to the Medela electric as well as many electric pumps is there are many parts to clean. The Lansinoh manual gets great reviews on-line.

I am looking into the Medla brand that is a double automatic. i am also checking to see if my insurance will cover any part of the expense. most will.:)
I'm just getting a single manual pump (Medela Harmony) to begin with, since I plan to stay home for at least 4 months, if not longer. If I do go back to work, or find that the manual pump is just not working for me, I'm probably going to get the Lansinoh Double Electric Pump.
I'm definitely getting a manual, and I will also get an electric if insurance covers the purchase. For the manual I'm going with Lansinoh (it got great reviews on Amazon). I'm going to be a SAHM so I won't need to pump a whole lot.

I plan to get the Medela Pump In Style - it is a double electric pump. I do not want a manual pump. All of the Medela pumps come with a bag set - so that is what I am getting.

I have the Medela Single Electric Pump. When I got it nearly 5 years ago it was about $65. It still works so there's no need to replace it. I've tried one of the other Medela pumps that comes with the bag and such...it's about the same as what I've got, at least I think so. I can plug mine in or use batteries and it's compact. And the fact that nearly 5 years later it's still working, I think it's great.

Ditto this, except I couldn't figure out the manual pump. I also found that I got better results if I pumped one side at a time.

Here's my experience since I BF'd DD. I bought a manual at first but didn't open it per everyone's suggestion; glad I didn't. DD had latch issues and I had supply issues so for the first 3 months we rented the hospital grade pump (loved it); then, cuz I'm a SAHM I got a Medela single Swing; loved that pump too. I'm hoping this time will be different/that we wont have those issues and I dont have to rent the hospital grade.
I have the Medela PISA and LOVE it. Its a double which can be converted into a single as well. I leaked like crazy when nursing or pumping just one side so I always did the the double pump as not to waste.
Before anyone goes out and buys a pump, quickly call your insurance company. Some insurances cover them. I have BCBS and they will be covering my pump 100%, and I get to keep it. It isn't a rental. Just a thought!
I was planning on a medela, but I have heard that the Ameda's are easier to clean, and something about the closed style of the pump makes it much more hygienic. I am still looking into this though. It is nice for me to know that insurance is covering, because now instead of looking at price, I can get down to the nitty-gritty info.
We'll be getting an electric pump, not sure about the brand, depends on what insurance will cover. I'd like to get a double though. Why spend any more time than necessary on it right?
I'm pretty sure that we'll also be getting a manual one at our BFing class.
As far as the whole bag set etc, again, it depends on insurance. I'd like to get a whole bag set, but if I don't and just end up getting a small extra diaper bag or something to carry it in, that's fine with me too.

I have a Medela PISA backpack. It's a double but can be used as a single as well. It worked great, although it was probably more than I needed since I only worked two days a week and didn't go out without DD very often.
I never considered getting a manual; I heard they're a PITA.

I plan to BF this baby too. I had a single, manual pump and ended buying a double electric (Medela bag) pump. I will skip the single/manual this time and go straight for the electric, double pump.
Re: Those planning to BF...
I BFed my first and will BF this one too.

Interesting, thanks. I'm torn between the In Style and Freestyle.

I breastfed DD and plan to breastfeed again.
