I feel it is too new. I know it contains the seasonal flu vaccine, but it also contains the avian and swine strain as well. I don't feel that DS needs it because he is home with me in a controlled environment. There haven't been enough studies and testings to know the long or short term effects on anyone. With DS being a preemie, I don't want to take the chance on either.

DD's pedi (in a pro-vaccination clinic) recommended that nobody gets it due to lack of testing. I believe I and DD already had it as well (I'm still getting over the lasting cough but it's been 2.5 weeks). I would rather have the swine flu than the regular flu. Also, why introduce this virus into your child's body? That's where I'm still torn on the regular flu shot as well, although, with her in daycare, I'll probably get it- if only because I generally suffer serious complications (pneumonia twice from Influenza and she may be like me.?
We have not vaccinated at all, including the H1N1, and I'm not sure we ever will. The reasoning isn't a simple answer but a combination of many things I have read over the past 3 years and many conversations with doctors/nurses in my area.
Some of the things that bother me about vaccines is that not all adverse reactions are reported and the ones that are aren't common public knowledge. They aren't 100% safe or effective. The CDC and the vaccine making companies have messed up many times in the past. There are doctors, including my cousin's pedi, who don't vaccinate their children & are not getting the H1N1.
In the end, you have to research it yourself and go with your gut feeling. It's just hard to get facts when it's mixed in with so many opinions.
I will say that I am against getting the H1N1 vaccine, or any other flu vaccine for myself. I do not want thimoseral, aluminum and/or squalene injected into my body. I practice a healthy lifestyle and haven't been sick in years. I do not live in a bubble, on the contrary, I work with some pretty dirty people who generally don't care about their health or hygiene.
With regards to my daughter, I'm somewhat undecided. I practiced an alternate schedule with the vaccines administered in her first year of life. She got them all, but spread out (not 7 at once, as is practiced here in Canada). I initially planned to skip the MMR and chicken pox vaccines, but now we are putting her in daycare so we will likely get these. I am leaning towards not getting her the H1N1 or regular influenza vaccines, but nursing her until she is 2yrs old instead.
It just annoys me to no end that people say anyone against vaccinating is a fear monger, but blindly accepts what the news media says. Believe me, the media sensationalizes everything it can to sell more papers, increase ratings etc. and will propagate fear just as much as some grassroots naysayer doctor. The point is, you need to hear both sides, and make the decision you think is best for yourself and your family. There is some middle ground.

First of all I totally disagree with not vaccinating at all. I think it is a very dangerous choice for children...The vaccine reaction (if any) are so less debilitating than the diseases themselves.
H1N1 I feel is too new. Also I have seen that there has been some reports of lung damage. However my LO will not be getting it. I am not confident that it is safe for my LO. ALso she is at home with nanny and not around a lot of people.

But tomorrow I am bringing LO for her Flu shot.
