Every time I read a post about someone having her baby early, I think that I am so not ready!
We already have a child, so it's not about the idea of having a baby. It's more that the nursery isn't done, carseat isn't installed, haven't pulled DS #1's clothes out of storage, still haven't done enough prep for natural childbirth and want to re-read my breastfeeding book. And we can't agree on a name! Probably because DS #1 was born 2 weeks late, I feel like I have all the time in the world. But every time I read a story of a baby coming early, I think of all I have left to do. Having been through it already, I know we'd get through it but I'd like to feel a little more prepared.
So, are you ready?!?
Re: Would you be ready for your baby today?
Noooo way.
I hope I can be "emergency" ready in a couple of weeks here...
Nope.?
But there is always a frantic run to Target that can be made I suppose... (In the event that he decides to come early...)?
No and what is worse is I am on strict bed rest and can't do anything to get done either. I am relying on my H and my sister and mom to help me get ready. My crib is not here and my shower is not for another 2 weeks.
I could be induced any moment now (although my doctors goal is to not induce me until 32 weeks or later) If he does come early, we will be scrambling to buy the car seat, get it installed and everything else.
It all snuck up on me way too quick!
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Our carseat was finally delivered Friday, and installed yesterday. So I can say...YES! We are ready. Everything else is small stuff - just as long as the baby can come home with us!
(I did finally wash all bedding and clothes last week too, so we're honestly all set. All I haven't really done is wash/sterilize bottles.)
This is the state of my family room... right this second. Do we look ready? Not so much
Not remotely close.
But we still have 11+ weeks.
Okay, that has got to be really tough. In reality, so many of these things don't *need* to be done before baby arrives (though it sure would be nice!). To take the pressure off yourself, I would get the carseat now and have it installed, and figure out where your baby is going to sleep when he/she comes home. Good luck!

I just got off bed rest this week and made a mad rush to get everything ready! Before this week I didn't have a crib and her room was just empty with storage boxes of DH stuff. The only baby item I owned was some clothing.
I was on bedrest for Pre term labor and I was told "she could come anytime" as soon as I get off my meds and can stand again so I felt I had to get my sh*t together ASAP.
Not even close. To be honest, I could be in labor and still not be ready. Not a matter of procrastination, but I always think "Should I pick this up?". "What about another ...?" "This will be sooo much better if I do it this way..."
And then the whole being a new mommy... yup definately not ready for that one either!!!!!!!

I have been ready since they told me at 36w2d that I was 3cms dilated.
Everyone keeps asking what we need, and I say "Nothing!"
Now it's just an impatient waiting game.
We finally installed the car seat base in my car and figured out how to work the travel system today, so I feel ready. The nursery is ready too. The only thing that is not ready is my hospital bag.
I tried to pack baby's bag today but we still don't have a coming home outfit. In fact, we hardly have any clothes at all. I'm thinking that will change at my work shower this week, since my co-worker has been telling me that she's gone crazy shopping for clothes, but if not, clothes are easy to find once LO gets here, esp. since we'll be able to buy gender specific at that point. So yeah, we're ready.
Oh yes! Infact, today would be a lovely day to have a baby!
I had some ptl signs at 35.5 weeks, so the week after that I quickly got myself organized. There are still things that I can be working on (a few paintings in his room, knitting projects, etc), but as far as the basics go, everything is ready.
Now that I am ready, it probably means that this little guy will be late.
I am more than ready for my LO to be here. We have been ready since about 35 weeks since I had a few signs that baby may come early. Now here I am still pregnant and the wait seems so much worse. I really wish today was the day but somehow I see myself going past my due date. I've given up hope that she will be here before then.
