How bad is it to be around paint fumes?

My husband is painting our DS's big boy room, and I have been going in there periodically to check it out. ?It smells SOOOO strong, and he doesn't have it well ventilated, a window is cracked but that is all. ?He just ran to the store and I opened one of the windows all the way and put on a huge fan so that should help.

Also I am using interior house paint to paint a kids table for his room. I just have a small bowl of paint and I am in a larger and better ventilated area. ?I can't even smell it but I am using a little mask...this is fine right???

Please don't flame me...?

  • My MW told me painting was fine and to try to not get it on my skin. She did say to ventilate well. I was bad, I spray painted a few times in 1st tri.
  • You'll be fine in a larger room with a small bowl of paint. I painted some stuff for the nursery in a big room like that and everything has been alright! I wouldn't go in the room and like take a big whiff, but don't panic either :)

  • We used regular Behr paint in our nursery when I was about 8 months pg and I was fine.  Just keep the windows open and a fan around.

  • I was told It would be alright as long as it is well ventilated, but when I wrote on FB how happy I was to be done painting all these people started attacking me saying how I shouldnt be doing it. GRRR stupid people who have never even been pregnant trying to give me all of their "great advice".
